Swollen neck gland in child

My dd (10 yr) has had large swollen neck gland in one side of her neck for 5 weeks. About 10 days ago I made an appt for her at gp and dh took her. He said it's nothing to worry about unless it gets bigger.

As far as I can tell it hasn't grown but its still there and she seems not her 100% self.

Anyone has experience?

I reckon she has an infection of some sort. Can you see a different doctor to get a second opinion?

My son used to have a swollen neck gland. He used to suffer with Eczema. The Dr told me it's the body's way of fighting an infection.

It first appeared when she had a cold/sore throat for a few days. I'm just surprised that its still there after so long, and only on one side. When she had the cold the glands on both sides of her neck came up, but one went away at the same time as the cold.

ds1 had one the size of a gold ball for months and months. he had blood tests done and it was all ok. dermo said that some kids with eczema always have swollen glands.
it's just went one day.

My son's neck gland was swollen for about 18 months.

Don't worry, it will go down.

Thanks for the reassurance, it seems to be slightly smaller today. I am resisting keeping on touching it though as I know that is not the best thing to do with swollen glands.
