Smelly plaque...

Have name changed cos I am really embarrassed about this and sorry if TMI.

I get that horrible furry plaque feeling on my teeth during the day but, around my back tooth at the bottom on the right hand side, the plaque absolutely stinks when I acrape it off.

It is only this tooth where it smells, the rest of my teeth get the build up but it doesn't smell.

Why is it smelling around this tooth? I have a filling in it but no obvious signs of decay.

Does anyone else get this and if so, is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

I brush my teeth well morning and night.

Sounds like there might be a slight infection or something. am not a dentist but had this myself a few years back with infection.
I'd try Cordosyl mouthwash, every time you brush for a little while, if that doesn't make a difference you should probably go to the dentist

yes to Cordosyl, but also use floss - it'll help.
I bet it's because the crevices in that tooth harbour food (and hence bacteria) more than other ones.
I have one particular gap-between-teeth that's always smellier than the others but there's nothing wrong with the teeth, just the shape of the gap means it gets mankier.

i went for my 6 month check-up to my dentist on monday and mentioned my gums bleed when i brush my teeth or floss and she prescribed me 2 bottles of Corsodyl moutwash which is really good stuff, (better than any other mouthwash IMO).she said my gums looked slightly inflamed and gave my teeth a scale and polish.

I am really paranoid about oral hygiene and would be mortified if anyone told me i had bad breath (i keep asking DH to smell my breath he said its ok.

i am going to use the corsodyl for a month or two to sort my gums out. they do feel very sore.

just floss as often as possible

use Corsodyl mouthwash (the mint flavour one the red one is rank)

as Mrs B said, some gaps in the teeth harbour more plaque hence bacteria leading to the stink.
