I am in my 20s with no health issues. My vein on my neck always sticks out like this. I've read it can be to do with heart failure but I am healthy and have no issues. Any idea what this is and if its bad? Is it a common thing?

My sister's do that don't think it's anything to worry about.

That’s your external jugular vein & it’s normal.

Completely normal especially in warm weather.

I wouldn't worry about your external jugular showing when you talk. No issues can arise from it. Esthetically speaking it's attractive. Let it show & show it off. Be confident. It adds to what makes you beautiful.

Being you have no known health issues, this jugular vein you are referring to is simply a genetic part of your physical makeup.
Nothing to worry over. It's also not due to high blood pressure.
Sometimes in hit weather the red blood cells become more prominent to the surface of the vein thus the vein becomes distended. It can't hurt you.
Also, if your external jugular is more prominent when you speak, that's because of two factors as well. One being the positive exchange of oxygen you take in and the dioxide you expell when talking. There's also the factor of your vocal chords vibrating and pushing the saturated oxygen to the veins and arteries closest to the heart.
I hope this answers your question. Don't worry. You are fine.
I have prominent blue throat veins that show up no matter how dark I tan. We are all unique in our own ways. Take care & be well.
Sincerely, Richard
