Milky taste in mouth + heartburn?

I wonder if anyone can help...

I’ve had a persistent milky taste in my mouth for the last month. In the last week or so, I’ve been suffering from heartburn too. Even drinking water leaves my chest feeling like it’s on fire.
I’ve tried Rennies which don’t help. Gaviscon makes me feel (even more) sick. I’m feeling very miserable!
Can the GP help? Or will they just tell me to lose weight? (Which I know I need to do, but isn’t a quick fix for this constant pain).
Thanks

Of course you should see the go. Could be a number of things -GERD being pretty likely.

I’ve just recovered from h pylori, and the main symptom there was constant heartburn. I had never even had heartburn before! If you have h pylori, it’s a quick stool test and they would treat it with antibiotics.
