I had the dc looked after the other day so I could do something v. essential.

Anyway, was very hot (Saturday) and very sunny so I packed suncream.

However, when ds2 woke up Sunday (I wasn't home til after dc bedtime on Sat) he said his arm hurt and i looked and it looked red as if sunburnt.

Looking at him since then, he has a red rash on his legs and red rash-like cheeks which still look very red even today.

Do you think he is allergic to the suncream or has he indeed got a little sunburnt?

None of the Dc have ever been burnt by sun before so will be a little if this is what happened.

Could ask friend but i'd rather not have to as will look like criticism and she was doing me a big last minute favour.

is it itch? Does it feel hot?

belgo · 06/08/2007 19:24

If it's sunburn, then it's quite bad to still be red.

Have you put aftersun on him?

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 19:26

Pics in profile but they don't relly show up redness that well. It seems to flare up when he gets warm.

Is it a lacy kind of rash? A child I know has got slapped cheek which is a rash and cheecks that looked like they have been slapped (hence the name)
Also known as fifths desease.

newlifenewname · 06/08/2007 19:42

Yes, I 'spose it is. I must add that the other two children who have similar skin (ds has fairer skin) are not red...

Right, I've done another pic (will add to profile in a sec) as it has flared up AGAIN! What on earth could this be? He isn't usually a rosy cheeked boy.

newlife - I think that slapped cheek is one of those illnesses where the rash comes out a little while after the other symptoms see:
here

belgo · 07/08/2007 07:35

so did he have a temperature a few days ago?

newlifenewname · 07/08/2007 19:50

I haven't noticed him have a temp but he has not long ago recovered from an ear infection with temp spikes - that was about a fortnight ago. He could have had a mild fever and I didn't notice as our house gets very hot .

He had the rash quite badly this morning - very flushed cheeks and his legs were covered in a viral type rash - like rubella.

new life - it does sound like slapped cheek. How is he now?

LIZS · 08/08/2007 08:52
