Is it ok to put teething gel on a dummy ? My DS is 9 months old and when he wakes in the night from teething the only thing that seems to ease it is putting his teething gel on his dummy and him sucking it. Is this bad for his new teeth ?

i use anbesol (liquid) which you can get from the chemists, it's for adults eg ulcers but pharmacist said it was ok for dd (it's got more bite than teething gels). dab a bit on your finger & then onto gums and shove dummy back in. try it yourself, it really does numb things for a bit (hopefully long enough for ds to get back to sleep)

Thanks for your help. I will try Anbesol - didn't think of that actually.

Socci - I am new at this...what does Bump mean ??

Bump !!!

I now know what bump means and thought that I would 'bump' this thread up as I am still unsure as to whether it is ok to put teething gel on his dummy. Is this bad for him ?

Can't see how it could be harmful - surely they can't put anything harmful to teeth in teething gel?

have you tried ashton and parsons powders, just sprinkle on the tongue, herbal teething powders, worked wonders on our dd

lolski, imo putting it onto a dummy wouldn't be as effective as smearing/dabbing onto the gum - after all the dummy is mostly in contact with the tongue, not the gums and you could end up with a ds who gets hooked on the taste, rather than just relieved by the numbing effect of whatever you use. hth.

Thanks for your help everyone. I am going to try some teething powder that I got from Neals Yard so will see how I get on with that.
