Progestrogen only pill - can I start it any day (if not for contraception)

Got a packet of P only pills from GP, as need to stop having periods as sending body into tailspin 2 weeks out of 4.

It says in pack to start on day 1 of period - but am not using for contraception so can I start it any time?

Possibly GP told me, but memory eludes me! Was just so relieved to find something that could help mitigate the monthly shenanigans I have lived with for so long!

Slightly worried about minor increase in breast cancer possibility, but am going to have to put that to one side I think.

If it allows me to feel better and get back to exercise then my risk will even up (currently unfit and carrying too much podge)

Thanks

Yes you can start it at any time. If it was being used for contraception then you are covered after 2 days of taking it. Be aware it may not stop your periods and could make them erratic

Thanks for that. Yes, my GP was upfront about possible variety of effects and said keep coming back 3 monthly and she'll try different brands until we get it right.

She's worth her weight in gold :) She's everything you'd want in a doctor. Totally represents the NHS at it's best.
