Petrified of mole biopsy

Hello everyone. Has anyone had a biopsy on a suspected MM mole? I've always had this mole on my shin but in the last few weeks especially it has developed a black crust over it where the area has become super itchy. Derm at hospital has reviewed it saying that it doesn't look like a MM to her But they have had "surprises" in the past where they have turned out to be cancerous. Early MM?? written on referral notes 😬 Biopsy is scheduled for next week. I have never been so scared in my life!!! I cannot function at all. I am classic very fair skinned, blonde hair that loved sunbeds 20 years ago.

I had something similar,. The dermatologist told me that she was 99 % sure it was benign. She was correct but the type of mole means I have an increased chance of melanoma in the future.

The actual removal was quick and easy. The worst part was the first local anaesthetic as it was directly on my spine. It kicked in so quickly I didn't feel the others.

Thank you goose1964. That was a relief! DH and my mum keep reminding me that Dr's know what they are looking for and are a little upset that I seem to doubt their words..... I'm a pessimist and hang onto the negatives but need to give myself a kick up the bum! The dermatologist said whatever it was it wasn't raised so if is the dreaded MM, hopefully it's all been caught early. X

What was the results of this?

Sorry that I forgot to update this thread. I was lucky I got it checked out. It was pre-cancerous! The morning of the biopsy, the small scab fell off leaving behind a very normal looking mole. Luckily despite this, the hospital still required a punch biopsy where abnormal cells were found with "cancerous characteristics". No further treatment was required as the mole was excised with clean borders. Please, if anyone has a suspicious mole, get it checked out! X
