Anyone experienced bleeding after bd?

This has happened to me a couple of times. Went to GP for examination - told everything looked clear. Swabs taken to check for infection and again all clear. Told to go back if problem continues.
Anyone had this happen to them and what is the next step likely to be?
TIA x

What's bd?

Twiglett · 02/08/2007 17:57

yes had cervical erosions .. nothing happened .. they just went away

(I think the fact that boyfriend at time had a large willy hadn't helped)

Snaf · 02/08/2007 17:58

Possibly cervical erosion. Ask GP about them and perhaps have another check. Not serious, afaik.

(And, please, please, can we just call it sex?)

PMSL @ Twig . Thanks for your replies.

I've had it in the past, never went to gp though. I think it was cervical erosion and dh having a large one. Happened more after we hadn't had sex in a week or two so usually don't get it.

Always needs checking. Had it once and was early stage changes to cervix (pre-cancer) and second time was cervical erosion which needed treating.

Problem still ongoing, if not worse. GP still says she sees nothing of concern but will refer me to hospital if I want reassurance. So that's next on the agenda. I think she said they will repeat the swab for infection. Apparently when they take the swabs at the surgery it can take 3/4 days for the sample to be tested on. If the test is taken at the hospital they test it straight away. Not sure if this will make much difference.

Anyone been through this?

I had this for many years. Mine was caused by a large cervical erosion (also called an ectropion).

You should also have a smear done as well as swabs. Bleeding after sex can sometimes be due to early cervical changes.

sparkler · 18/09/2007 14:30

I'm up-to-date with smears and they have all been normal.
Want to ask what, if any, treatment you went on to have but not sure if I'm scaring myself too much by knowing too much.

I finally had cryotherapy where they freeze the erosion with liquid nitrogen. Not too painful (more uncomfortable) and no problems since then.

ooooooh!

i had this for years and was too scared to check it out - finally did, was cervical erosion and fixed it with Vit E supplements

Let's hope any treatment I need, if any, is as simple as that.
