Slapped cheek syndrome?

Hi, my dd just 2 woke this morning with a big red patch on the side of her face, has now extended partially onto the top of her ear. Looks to me like the description of slapped cheek, but I have never seen it in the flesh. It is a sort of mottley red rash, maybe slightly puffy.

Is there anything more sinister it could be?

I'm not sure if there's anything else it could be, but I did find a photo of slapped cheek here . HTH.

Yes, defo not teething. No chewing or temperature or grumpiness (well no more grumpiness than usual anyway!)

I will take her to the doc in the am to check

Sounds like it could well be slapped cheek, does she have cold symptoms too. Do warn the receptionist though as the virus which causes it can cause complications in pregnancy and she could try to schedule you to avoid such contact. I suppose in theory it could be scarlet fever but that is a more solid rash and has an associated sore throat.

Does dd go to nursery as I was told Slapped Cheek was unusual in under 3's unless they did regularly. DS was 8 months and only went to a creche once a week while I took an art class, how guilty did I feel

DS had slapped cheek about a year ago. I was pregnant with DD at the time and no one said it caused complications. He had a temp, a slightly runny nose and bright red cheeks. Lasted a few days.
