Glad to hear P is on the list as urgent at last. It SHOULD be really soon now. Its a shame that he had to get to this point first, cos it is too difficult to get to the top of the list when you are not urgent and there is such a short supply of hearts, there is always someone more urgent who gets to the top and you never do. (hope that makes sense I,m sure ykwim)
Perhaps the Dr was telling you this to let you know that they are trying to get him a heart, that they are thinking about him and haven't forgotten him. Anyway, they ought to keep you informed, frustrating as it is.
I'm sure you know this, but for others benefit, even when a donor is found and agreed, there are many reasons why hearts may be unsuitable, which is probably the case here (I dont know what the percentage is, but I think its quite high). It is worth them doing the tests and being fussy, as a transplant is such a major operation, there is little point in giving a recipient a 'new' heart that is not in pretty darn good condition - and many people's are not.
