First period after baby, why do I feel seriously unwell?

Baby is 3 months, started first period 3 days ago and It's very heavy, more so than I've ever had in the past.

I'm feeling very dizzy, weak, not totally with it and I've had a headache for three days now.

I was anemic after the birth as a result of haemorrhage but i recovered from the anemia quickly with a blood transfusion and some iron tablets.

Could this heavy period have tipped me back into anemia?

Are hormones to blame for the physical symptoms of feeling unwell?

I feel so strange, weak and jittery. It absolutely must be related to the period as it all came on when the bleeding started.

Any ideas? I'm miserable Sad

Call your doctor or 111 but would try to get seen somewhere today.

Could well be anaemia again but think you need to get properly checked out. My first period was heavy and long but don't remember a headache like that.

I spoke with 111 yesterday and they weren't concerned, they said its normal to be heavy and as long as I'm not losing large clots or have an offensive smell then I'm ok it will tail off by itself. They did suggest I made a GP appointment to check iron levels but I've no hope of getting one this week, my GP is a nightmare for appointments Sad

I have some ferrous sulphate in the cupboard I may start taking them again just incase it's anemia

If anyone can relate , please feel free to reply to this.

My son was born 12th December 2022
I've currently had no period apart from a very light bleed for a day and a half on the 14th of March for a day and a half.

For about 4 weeks now I've had constant back pain that located most of my left side , lower back pain and also the back of my ribs, it's just like a dull achy pain constantly , I have lower abdominal cramps , uncomfortable bloating and short of breath to the point I feel like I've been physically winded. The past week it's got worse and accomplished with leg cramps that are like muscle weekends.
(I've handed in a urine sample and nothing abnormal in urine)

I've held off going to gp as it's just felt like really bad pms but then nothing will come of it.
I have an appointment at half 3 tomorrow for the doctor to feel my stomach and my back , maybe possibly need to get a X-ray to see what the cause actually is.

This is my 3rd baby and never experience this sort of pain or if it's even related to periods. My question is pretty much asking how yous felt with your first period coming after having a baby

Hmm, sounds a bit odd does that op, I'd get seen by someone. Do you have fever?

How quick are you going through a pad

If your FF feeding you'd usually have a period by now. I had my twins on the 3rd December 2022. My period returned after 10.5 weeks and was very heavy. If you're FF and haven't had a period by 12 weeks sometimes they like to check why and might want to scan you.

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

@PinkButtercups
Thankyou for the reply , I was doing some research on mumsnet and this was actually suppose to be it's own post , instead I done a reply Blush Thankyou so much for getting back to me , I got bloods taken in March about it and all my thyroid's and hormone levels were fine so nothing abnormal apparently.
It's so frustrating because I need to realise so much hornones. I never thought I'd say it but I need a period 😭
