This story explains some of the myths around seizures. If you ever see someone having a seizure PLEASE don't try to put anything in their mouth!

I started getting seizures when I was 17, in my case I'm fairly sure that its worse for anyone watching!

There is loads of ignorance about the tongue thing - great thread edam

There's also loads of ignorant GPs out there, one wanted to prescribe me anticonvulsants after a gap of 10 years without sending me to a neurologist. Sodium Valporate not the best if you are trying to conceive and there are other options!!

Thank heavens you knew better. My sister's best mate developed epilepsy as an adult and unhappily lives in an area with no neurologists. Had to wait over a year to be seen by a consultant, with a bloody GP who stuck her on Epilim.
