I'm pacing the house for an hour now as I have cramps in feet/toes that start as soon as I keep still. both feet.
have drunk a large glass of water and taken magnesium.
what else can I do?

yesterday I woke up with the residual cramp pain in my calves iyswim. it's mightily annoying.
I walk and cycle a lot and walk stairs a lot.

I stopped wearing toe-grabby shoes, usually brogues or trainers and barefoot at home (used to wear birkenstocks)

I get foot cramp quite a lot. Tonic water (quinine) is good for instant relief, as the magnesium will be a more long term solution. I also find putting really warm socks on helps me. Good luck!

Maybe find a good osteopath who can check why it's happening?

orangeshoebox · 19/06/2019 21:35

yeah, maybe my feet are getting too cold barefeet in this weather?
my pregnancies were horrible for leg cramps but I don't really want to resort to ugly sweaty flight socks

Stretch & massage.
To prevent cramp, drink more water, & take magnesium everyday.

I was going to say magnesium but you already are taking it. I used to get really bad leg cramps every morning and I haven’t had one in nearly a year now it really does work I take 500mg at night but it took at least a month to notice any effect. I’m usually very sceptical about supplements

DH gets this and he was told to boost calcium levels, at least that's his excuse for eating industrial levels of cheese. When I get really bad foot cramps I put my feet in cold water though no idea why it helps, for general aches and pains I found Feroglobin helped liquid one but contains iron so check you are low in iron before taking that - I presumed it was magnesium in it but worked quickly. Make sure you drink enough too.

thanks all.
I already take magnesium (400mg) late afternoon and taking a lot of cheese calcium.
will get flight socks to see if that helps.

maybe I need to rethink how I take the stairs?

5 floors in the office and very narrow and steep stairs at home.

I used to get awful crippling foot cramp, in the arch of the same foot...sometimes lasting for days. Now I hate to tempt fate, but I haven t had any for months since I started taking Electrolytes sports supplement and having at least 2 litres water a day. I haven't changed anything else.

orangeshoebox · 20/06/2019 20:57

hmm will have a look at electrolytes.
it's just so annoying.
been sitting on the sofa for 15 min and the cramps started again. grrr

How's it going @orangeshoebox ? Did you find electrolytes? I buy a huge box from amazon x2 a day and pretty much instant result after years of very regular day and night cramp. Even had it for first 3 days of my honeymoon- wonderful!
