Shortness of breath, lethargic...

Before anyone tells me to go to the gp, I am waiting for a call back from the gp. Just panicking due to google.

Have had shortness of breath for a few days, just doesn’t feel like I’m getting enough oxygen, it’s worse when I’m lying down and I get the occasional pain in my chest, I feel lethargic and I’m not sleeping (waking with shortness of breath). I do suffer from anxiety but not sure it’s that. Occasional cough but chest doesn’t feel congested. I’m fit, my bmi is spot on, I keep fit (but struggling with the gym at the moment) but I do suffer with high cholesterol which I have been unsuccessful at lowering, gp says I may have a condition where it won’t lower despite a healthy ish diet.

I’m panicking that it may be my heart, is there anything else it could be?

Gp is calling me back in a bit to see if I need seeing today, not sure why they wouldn’t let me make an appointment.

might it be iron deficiency? I'm prone to this and when I'm particularly deficient I do get shortness of breath and chest pain - not enough red blood cells being made to take oxygen around the body

Do you have a temperature? Have you had a cold recently? What is your heart rate - take your pulse for 60 seconds

Good idea to call the GP.

moscovv gp thinks I might be low in iron, booked me in for a blood test next week (earliest they could do it). Been given an inhaler to try and some antihistamines incase it’s an allergy. Blood pressure and oxygen levels fine.

I do have a very slight cough but temp is ok. Heart rate seems ok.

Great that your heart rate is OK, hang in there for the blood tests, ridiculous that they cant fit you in for a week.

It's fairly easy to treat if it is iron, i just take ordinary Holland and Barrett iron tablets, or the feroglobin fizzy drink ones and it helps a lot
