REFLUX in 6 month old DS

He has always had reflux from being a little baby but now that he is on solids it is a nightmare. He is sick small amounts, but because he is on solids it smells like proper sick and is brightly coloured which is a nightmare on my carpet.

Any suggestions?!?!?!?! When should this clear up?

has he got meds?
my DS had silent reflux and he started on infant gaviscon and then ranitadine and domperidone as his reflux was quite bad
Lots of babies grow out of it by around 6 - 9 months and some at around 1 year so you can wait it out
have you been to your GP?

He had Gaviscon for his bottles which worked OK. I don't really want him to take anything unnecessarily.

Guess it is just a waiting game??? My carpet stinks!!!!!!!!!!

Oh god, reflux when they are on solids is a nightmare - I was advised to wean my dd early because she had horrendous reflux, what crap advice - the puke was then just as you describe, proper sick and multicoloured, didn't stop it happening at all. If your son is on meds etc, there's not much else to be done. My dd was on ranitidine and tbh it ddin't really stop the puking, just stopped the discomfort. She finally stopped throwing up at around a year old. I know that will seem a long way off to you, but it WILL come and you'll soon forget the hell of reflux!! I'm pg with dc no.2 and I'm dreading the possibility of another one with reflux, although I think I would cope better this time!

you can wait it out, but the meds are good
the domperidone moves food through their systems more quickly so if they are sick there should be less of it
sorry about your stinky carpets tho'

Peggoty - it's gross isn't it. I weaned DS at 14.5 weeks on advice from the GP but like you said, it didn't make any difference.

Thanks for advice on meds Ruby - I may speak to my GP again.

Bleaurgh - and I don't 'do' sick!!

speak to your GP
when my DS had his meds it was like having a different baby
good luck with it all

Thank you!! My new carpet goes down on Friday so I may just put a paper bag around his head to catch the sick
