How much does it hurt? I am a bit freaked out...after almost 2 years of almost constant bleeding, with the odd few weeks of break inbetween, I have reached the end of my tether and have decided to have it taken out. Got my appointment for it on Thursday.
I didn't find it all that bad when they put it in, and didn't experience swelling or pain after, really....if that is anything to go by....please tell me, it's not all that bad, lol!

It's just a bit nippy when they put a bit of local anaesthetic in...they had to dig about for mine quite alot, but it wasnt sore just a bit bruised afterwards.

Malfoynomore · 24/07/2007 16:50

Mine seems to be very near under the skin, so, hopefully shouldn't be hard to find it...I can really feel it...might have helped that I lost some weight since they put it in, lol!
Thanks for your reply, it's setting my mind at ease a bit...
I was completely freaked out before having it put in, lol, so, it's jsut being scared of the unknown....I suppose....

Hi there,

I had mine out yesterday. Its just like when they put it in really re local anasthetic, then they just cut a hole with a scalpel and pod and poke to get it out.

Mine was hard to get out and they were at it a good 15 mins, as it was bendy and springy apparently when they tried to get it. They try and do it with the smallest hole you see to minimise scarring.

I have to say it is really sore today, but that is only because they had to have a right good prod and poke.

BTW, I am a proper wimp and it was fine, so you will be too.

Got to go for the smear next.............

thank you for your re assurance Nova....as for smears...yeah not the most pleasant, but usually not painful....used to have some trouble down that area with needing lazer treatment and then loads of smears afterwards...

God you did well to last two years i had the same problem only managed 6 months dp was severly deprived and kids looked at me like i had two heads as i flipped at slightest thing! I had it taken out it was fine bit uncomfortable but make sure someone drives you as they told me i couldnt drive as they wrap top of your arm in a banadge and you can hardly move it!!

Malfoynomore · 24/07/2007 19:20

Bosslady....luckily dispite having almost constant period, my emotional state had been reasonabel good, and I was probbaly less snappy then I usually would be....just the bleeding really got me down.
Good point about the driving...but I will be walking anyway, that should be o.k.
(Bit bad though that they never actually made me aware of that fact...ah well....Gp's....)

I drove home and was fine, although I did think about that at the time too.
I took the bandage of quick sharp and swapped it for some big plasters, they work just aswell, and don't fall down your arm when you start hoovering!!!!!!!!!

3andnomore · 26/07/2007 18:23

Well, it's done and dusted now...only felt the little pinprick of the anaesthesia going in and that was all I felt...even had a look towards the end to see what was going on!
Got a little stitch in and a plaster on and an appointment for next Thursday to have the stitch taken out.
Local is still working, so no soreness, yet...lol

hairycaterpillar · 26/07/2007 19:17

Well done!
