Hi again everyone and welcome to the 71st new thread for cancer support.

All those who are currently being treated, have been treated in the past, have worries and concerns and/or are having tests are very welcome to pull up a chair and chat, vent, rant, pour hearts out, share milestones and anything else! We are a very friendly and all-too experienced bunch on here and there are no questions too small or silly to ask.

Our previous thread is here .

Anyone with any type of cancer (female or male) is welcome. And we will hold your hand if you're waiting to find out whether or not you have cancer at all.

If you've got a loved one with cancer then your best place for support is probably on the Life-Limiting Illness board.

Please can I invite current members to reintroduce yourselves below for latest situations and stories so far.

Snows. Congratulations on the last chemo. It is a wonderful thing but something none of us would ever have wanted or want again. I hope any side effects bare very quick to disappear

WTF99 · 02/07/2019 08:56

snows woohoo for last chemo! I can't wait to be you! Xx

Brassica · 02/07/2019 10:50

Chips and curry sauce WTF...that sounds sooooo good! It’s pretty much what I’d choose for a birthday treat too! Grin

Wow, congratulations on the last chemo snows, big achievement and I hope you feel good when it’s all done. From what I understand people sometimes have a bit of a wobble about leaving the safety blanket of the drugs but it doesn’t sound as if you’ll be feeling like that.

Hard to imagine I will miss chemo either. Back at hospital again for number 6 this morning and I’ve lost about 6lbs over the week so the nurse is a little concerned about that. Waiting for bloods before we start.

Wimbledon was really good yesterday. I was quite wobbly of leg so we had to cab it there (luckily don’t live far) and it was really tiring for me but we saw three very good matches and it’s a lovely place to be. Managed to get home about 9pm by cab again so we had a good long day.

Waves to everyone else.

Just wrote a massive post and flippin well lost it!

In short...
Crossing fingers for you for a smooth time today brassica

I seem to be over my sobbing tendency of last week. Thinking it must have been partly drug induced as i was crying even when I wasn't upset! Got low key nice plans in place for birthday week so hoping to glide to the weekend, counting my blessings along the way.

Have a good day everyone x

WTF99 · 02/07/2019 11:44

....I'm not really a blessings kind of person....but appreciating the little nice things rather than focussing on all the crap....you know what I mean...

redspook · 02/07/2019 12:00

Wimbledon sounds fab brassica, it certainly looked warmer and sunnier on tv than it was here in the Frozen North. Hope today is going ok.
I have a mental image of you serenely gliding WTF, must practice that.
I have my radiotherapy planning meeting on Friday, so the consultant's estimate of two weeks until treatment starts is looking doable at the moment.
Does anyone know how long the planning meeting might take?

meercat23 · 02/07/2019 15:21

Redspookmy planning meeting only took about hakf an hour including them getting all their consent forms signed and the CT scan. If they have to actually mark you up it might take longer but my centre uses some kind of imaging technology so no need to mark me up.

I start my Radiotherapy sessions on Wednesday so I will let you know how it goes.

redspook · 02/07/2019 16:13

Thanks meercat, that's really helpful. I feel better able to cope with these appointments if I know what to expect.

TwitterQueen1 · 02/07/2019 20:10

Hi all. Thank you for lovely messages. AM waiting for a bed on an onc ward now that O2 is ok. Ketones crap but I'm on 15 steroids a day. Sugar is all over the place.
Dd1 washed my hair today, bliss. Dd 2 had amazing time at Glastonbury. I sit back and watch.hospital life. I stood up today

peapod66 · 02/07/2019 20:45

TQ I haven't posted often recently, but wanted to say how delighted I am to hear that your O2 levels have improved and you will be able to move to the oncology ward. Sending love and best wishes xx

meercat23 · 02/07/2019 21:21

TQ Lovely to see you back.

addlebrained · 02/07/2019 22:42

Whoop whoop TQ! Welcome back! Congrats on the standing up - hope you have some interesting soap-drama-esque things going on in your vicinity to help you pass the time interestingly Grin

Toofaroutallmylife · 02/07/2019 22:44

Hi TQ! Your post brought a little tear to my eye. Having your hair washed AND standing up? Today was a good day xx

addlebrained · 02/07/2019 22:44

Oops just realised I have been lurking and actually this is my first post on this Fred!

Hello All! I'm Addle and I had a hemicolectomy and chemo for stage 3 colon cancer last year. Just waiting for results of a follow up scan (ignorance is bliss) and survived scanxiety thus far but dreading getting results... Glitterball

Bloodybridget · 03/07/2019 02:04

Brassica, glad you managed Wimbledon, that was quite an expedition, well done! So was your 6th chemo yesterday the last? TQ , great to hear you are doing better (in some respects) - I bet it did feel marvellous to have clean hair! Addle, crossing everything for your scan results. Meercat, hope radiotherapy goes OK today.

I had my first chemo yesterday, I did feel really nervous beforehand, as through I was going to sit an exam or sing a solo! But of course it was fine, all completely straightforward, no discomfort, felt fine afterwards.

meercat23 · 03/07/2019 08:17

Bridget I know just what you mean about that stage fright feelingSmile. Just more of the uncertainty and waiting to find out that goes with this stuff. I am glad that the first session was OK. One done and dusted and ready to be ticked off the listThanks

I had the chance of a longer gap between the chemo but I opted to start it straight away because I couldn't bear any more waiting. Oh and because we want to book a short break away when it is over! I am still feeling so tired though I wonder if I should have taken a longer break but too late now. I have cancelled almost all work while I have the radiotherapy though so that should help

Toofaroutallmylife · 03/07/2019 09:14

Happy birthday @WTF99 ! Hope you have a good day x

WTF99 · 03/07/2019 09:50

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 03/07/2019 11:14

Morning!

Here are some Thanks for all of you going through treatment, & more Thanks for those of you waiting for results.

TQ I just posted on your other thread, then came on here to find you virtually had a spa day yesterday! GlitterballGlitterball for you.

I'm in the haematology day unit today waiting for my rituximab injections. I'm getting used to them now, but I can feel my anxiety rising for a few days beforehand.

Buying everyone's dinner from M&S tonight, so I can take it easy.

Hope everyone can enjoy the sunshine today Glitterball

meercat23 · 03/07/2019 12:26

First Radiotherapy treatment done and dusted. Only took 15 minutes. Hardest thing is going to be no deodorant. Let's hope for everyone else's sake the heat wave doesn't come backSmile.

redspook · 03/07/2019 14:28

Happy Birthday WTF, hope you're having a lovely day Cake.
Glad to hear that you took the radiotherapy in your stride meercat, how many sessions are you having?

Fluffysunshinepants · 03/07/2019 15:28

Gosh totally out of the loop after last chemo and surgery.

I don't recognise anyone apart from @tq so many new posters. Wishing everyone well x

MinnieMountain · 03/07/2019 16:38

Hello Lacies
I was on here last year with stage 1 breast cancer. I'm back as I've just had a CA125 blood test for ovarian cancer.
Is it a "could be lots of other things" test in the same way as breast lumps?
And I'm so glad you're up and about TQ Flowers

mrsrhodgilbert · 03/07/2019 18:00

I’m so pleased to hear you’re feeling better TQ and have even had a bit of pampering. My dd was at Glastonbury for the first time and had a ball
