First 3-6 months of mirena

I had mirena fitted 8 weeks ago. This followed a d&c plus hysteroscopy. Had bleeding and spitting for 3 weeks and the spotting turned into what I think was a period. That lasted 2 weeks and then nothing for around ten days. Period started again 8 days ago and hasn’t stopped. Much lighter than before mirena but also much longer. I know they say it can be like this for 3-6 months but interested in others experiences x TIA

I had a light period for 5-6 months non stop after mine was fitted. Was about to make an apt to ask to have it taken out as it was so annoying. But then they stopped

That was 2 years ago and since then only the occasional bit of discharge which lasts a day or so every 2-3 months

Not looking forward to having it changed over mind!

My first 3-4 months I had quiet a lot of heavy bleeding and cramps, it was fitted 4 months after my 2nd baby. I had it replaced in January this year, it wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be, as I was told I would feel it more than I did so soon after having my baby.
It must be a good 4.5 years since I've had a period now which I love.

As someone who has an appointment to have one fitted I am following this thread with interest.

Can I ask has the Mirena affected your PMS? (which is the most troublesome aspect of my periods).

I didn't really have PMS issues before - now I don't have noticeable periods (other than odd day of spotting every 2-3 months) so consequently don't notice any PMS symptoms either

I've had mine for about a year now, having chosen it to try to make my periods less heavy. I had periods that lasted about 2-3 weeks every month for the first 6-7 months or so, thankfully they were very light but it was miserable spending so much time oozing. Since then periods have still been longer lasting, but are getting so light that I'm never quite sure if they count as actually being on, if you see what I mean.

Periods are much lighter, but also longer and less predictable. I haven't seen much change in PMT or period pain, but perhaps my endometriosis affects that too.

I'm on my second. IIRC there was bleeding more days than not in the first few months and then it settled down to about one day of spotting per year. I didn't really have PMS beforehand. Changeover was very easy, and lack of periods continued.
