Viral sore throat reoccurrence- what is this?!

Last week I had a mildly sore throat for a few days, accompanied by a few bouts of diarrhoea. Throat had white spots at the back of it but as it cleared up on its own I didn't give it much thought.

Sore throat returned yesterday (no white spots this time), woke this morning and it's much worse, diarrhoea back too so I've taken the day off work. Phoned and spoke to GP who asked if I had fever (I don't) or if asthma is bad (it's not), and said it's something viral (apparently there's some viral strain that causes sore throat with diarrhoea) and just to treat symptoms for now.

My worry is that it went away last week and has returned worse so could do the same again. Does it sound like strep throat to anyone, or would I have a fever?

Hi, last week i had a minor head cold but with a sore throat which was worse than the normal "minor" throat irritation you get with a cold, plus loose stools and painful stomach cramps. It cleared up in about 6 days. Then this week the sore throat came back on its own, with no diarrhea this time but feeling very run down/fatigue however it went away after 3 days so I'm hoping that's the end of it. I had strep throat at the start of April and if it was that you probably would have a fever even a mild one and you would have white/yellow pus on your tonsils and probably your tongue too, I actually ended up hospitalised with mine because my throat closed and I could no longer swallow my own saliva nor the antibiotics I'd been given so I needed iv fluids and steroids and medicine.

I haven't had any other cold symptoms, just two occurrences of sore throat and diarrhoea with cramps, white spots last week but none this time. Throat is definitely more painful this second time though, plus I'm more tired and bleugh feeling.

How is your sore throat now op? Would you believe my minor cold symptoms are back again today, I'm starting to believe it could be allergies even though I've never had hay-fever or allergic reaction in my life! I do get chronic hives but never been able to find a particular trigger, but never had this tickling throat, tickling ear, sneezing, blocked/runny nose. I can't believe it would be a 3rd cold in 3 weeks, I just can't!
