Yesterday ds (11) was diagnosed with a salivary gland infection. The whole side of his face is mega swollen (same glands as mumps) He saw the doc at 3pm. Doc asked whether he was getting hot/cold with it said no (as he wasn't) hes been prescribed anti-biotics to clear it.

Got home at 3.30 andhe took first tablet with food as pescribed.

At 5pm he had very hign temperature but says he was cold. Gave him calpol and he went to sleep. Kept checking on him. gave him 2nd tablet with food at 11pm. (doctor wanted 2 tablets in for last night) 12pm he started vomiting. more calpol given for temperature.

Hes just had a bit of breakfast and his tablet, and hes just been sick again.

My question is............do you think this is just all part of the infection. Or would it be the tablets? There are a lot of side-effects with the tablets..upset stomach, dihorreah, dis coloured teeth for a while. Also they are for children/adults age 12 years up, he is not 12 til next month, that wouldn't make a difference would it?? If it is upset stomach due to tablets, are they going to be actually working for him to make him better??

sorry for going on!

I would call your out of hours dr for advice. If he is being sick, the tablets won't be absorbed properly anyway and they may need to change it for something else. Does he still have a temperature? You can tell them about that too.
