Help! Migraines but no medicines left? No Buccastem on sale!

I get migraines which are of the disturbed vision type, the aura, sensitivity to light, nausea but not so much pain.
Since last year, the pink Migraleve has not been on sale, since when I have been buying Buccastem.
BUT the pharmacies have sold out of Buccastem as there is a supply problem. I only have three tablets left.
A pharmacy said I could get it on prescription as other people do, but my doctor said I could not and that there was only another medicine for another condition which had side effects and he did not recommend that.
I went back to the local pharmacies and none of them have any.
What can I do?

Travel sick tablets. And wrist bands.
There are also patches.

If you don't have stomach problems (important!), Then 900mg aspirin and a can of coke can be as good as triptans, as long as you take it as soon as you realise you have a migraine.

Is it specifically Buccastem (brand) that you've been asking for or prochlorperazine (generic)? I have prochlorperazine and have had no supply issues (South England).

Lougle Just the Buccastem, and when I asked the pharmacies they said there was nothing else except travel sickness tablets which would not stop the aura and inability to see.

Have you tried ordering on line from Lloyds pharmacy, can collect in store in a couple of days...not sure if Boots offer it too?

I came here to suggest Motilium 10 (domperidone), but a quick Google shows that it was withdrawn in 2014!

Sorry, I can think of no other substitutes, as a chronic migraine sufferer myself. I get Sumatriptan and metaclopramide on prescription, absolute magic (the triptans do give me a weird strangling sensation and burning on my mouth and throat, but tbh the relief of the head pain is worth it).

I don't tend to suffer the aura, it's mostly pain and nausea. What about Paramol, that's paracetomol and dihydrocodeine?

I take sumatripitan too on prescription, i think you can also buy this from boots now. I get very quesy with it and also have a burning mouth and throat, makes me pee loads too 😕 but it is worth it to get the headache away.

If i dont have this i take sleepeze from boots and a normal painkiller and try to sleep it off. The sleepeze has the same ingredients that used to be in syndol, which is rubbish now on its own.

I get aura (a.k.a. classical) migraines and I've found Midrid is the only thing that works for them. Migraleve (pink or yellow) never made a dent in my migraine. Midrid used to be available over the counter but now it's prescription only. My GP had never heard of it but does now prescribe it for me. Might be a chat with your GP and trying it:

Fstar I know this is a controversial comment but you can get proper Syndol on the internet. It comes from South Africa and is the proper thing. The website is bizarrely named Perkipets or something but I've bought from them for years and perfectly fine and legit, costs a small fortune though.

Have you ever had a proper triptan prescribed from your GP? Should get you out of this mess.

Red coke full sugar & fat, eye mask, heat pack to feet or stomach and ice pack to back of neck, the heat will pull blood away from your head, the ice pack will cool it down on the way past, the eye mask to shut things out for even a short while, give your brain a chance to rest, the red coke for the caffeine content which opens up the blood vessels to stop the pressure and constriction

I take 900mg soluble aspirin and a full fat cola plus ice packs on the back of my neck and forehead. Also prescribed Domperidone but not sure if you can get it over the counter- Kwells work just as well (or Boots own Joyrides but take double the dose)
I have been known to sit with my head under a cold water tap too.

You can buy phenergan over the counter (promethazine) which is an effective anti sickness medication, and I’ve taken it during migraines. Can make you very drowsy but it helps me to sleep it off!

My DD takes 3x 300mg soluble aspirin, this was suggested by the GP and I get them over the counter.

Stemetil / prochloraprezine on prescription, or I've also had Cinnarizine prescribed. Incidentally, I've found that my visual/vestibular migraines reduced after going on Sertraline for low mood

I thought that Syndol was back on the market with the old formula in it again?
