Do I need to be vaccinated against measles?

For some reason I wasn’t vaccinated against measles (or mumps etc) as a child. I believe I actually had measles when I was in primary school. In light of the upsurge of measles cases should I do anything about it? I presume they can check to see if you’re immune? Do they vaccinate adults?

I’m up to date on travel vaccinations but it’s never occurred to me to ask about measles. I can’t be 100% that I’ve had it.

Why not just get the MMr done? My dh had it as an adult. You might be immune to measles but you dint want mumps or rubella either.

I think I’ve actually had mumps and rubella as well. (I swear I’m not even that old.) I’ll ring the doctors and ask.

Yes, go get the MMR!

I was vaccinated at university due to a mumps outbreak, it was my third mmr after 2 doses as a child so it can be done.

I’ve had all 3 diseases as a child, trust me measles was particularly unpleasant, and I’ve since tested immune to all three on 6 separate occasions. See if you can get tested and if not immune you can have the MMR.

If you were born after 1970 and are unsure of your vaccination status (or know you have a gap) you can get MMR on request.

If you are older than that, you will almost certainly have had the diseases, and so are not included in that catch up programme.

I never had mumps, though had measles (disease) and rubella jab. But am too old for MMR catch up.

I'd get tested. That way the system won't waste money on a vaccine if it's not necessary.
