Does this sound like chickepox?

Yesterday morning I noticed clusters of small watery blisters on dd's fingers, mostly right on the ends of them but also over her hands. She has the same on her feet, again mostly on the toes. She has other spots on her legs, these are red and flatter with no blister, like a completely different kind of spot. She has no spots on her torso, arms or face.

Looking back she has been a bit off colour last week and she was a bit shivery one night and felt a bit hot but was fine the next morning. She's had a bit of a cold and cough but nothing serious so could be a bit run down.

Any ideas? I thought chickenpox spread all over the body and actually started on the torso. She doesn't have many more spots today, maybe just a few more on the fingers and feet. Thanks. dd is 2.5 BTW.

I thought cpox started on the torso too. I know there's a virus going round which is causing blisters on children. Ds's teacher (fresh back from mat leave) had to leave her baby on the first day back with it

Coud it be hand, foot and mouth ??

I'm sure this has smilar symptoms to what you have described.

Thanks, she is sleeping just now so will check her mouth when she wakens.

Does she have any blisters in her mouth, inside of her cheeks, or on the edge of her tongue? If so then Nutty is probably right - sounds like hand, foot and mouth to me too

Sorry, posts crossed.

No spots in mouth... just waiting to see if ds will succumb as he's not had chickenpox yet or whatever it is...

my dd had chicken pox when she was 3 mth, 1st 2 spots were on her hip/thigh so i dont think they always start on torso hth

dd seems much better today. Looking back she has been grumpy. No more spots today. The ones she does have have gone a bit flatter and red round the edges. Got a doctor appoint. tomorrow not that she needs it but just to get it confirmed.

Took dd to the doctor yesterday afternoon. It is chickenpox but she's just taken it very mildly. And she's past the infectious stage so it's been no bother at all. Just looking out for ds now - hoping in a way that he does get it as he is 5 now.

dd1 had chickenpox on her legs first - so me and gp happily sent her to nursery thinking they were cat flea bites...so the typical pattern is always there to mislead us mums..
