Ongoing situation with my partners heart and it’s just hit me how serious it all is after appointment today.

He’s got a severe blockage 70% plus in left artery and approx 50% in the right, plus some more blockages in the smaller vessels and other issues.

The left one is apparently very very serious.

They are talking of heart bypass surgery as angioplasty less likely to be successful due to placement and extent of damage. I hadn’t even considered this until they spoke about it today.

I don’t even know how to begin processing this, I have 1 million thoughts running through my head and my biggest fear is that he could have a massive heart attack at any minute and not survive.

I’m worrying about leaving him to go to work, I’m worried about what the future holds, what we will do for money (he’s currently off work) and even things like what will happen if he gets worse and cannot get up the stairs to our flat (building has no lift.)

Think I just need a hand hold and a hug 😢

Hi rocket. How old is your partner? I had an a acquaintance who had a by pass in his early 40sand my mum had angioplasty in her early 80s. Both recovered well. I guess general health is also an issue.

And here a cyber hug. Hope you felt that

No advice but I'm sending you a massive hug. Thinking of you

Should he be going to work? I would be asking if he should be off sick. Is he on meds?

My mum had a triple bypass after a couple of 'small' heart attacks (she thought it was angina 🙄). She was hospitalised between the heart attacks and surgery as they wanted her on strong meds and regular obs. I can't remember her stats but I think one was 90% blocked. She was 66 and made a full recovery.

Thank you for the replys and hugs - all very appreciated.

My partner's in his 50s.

MountainDweller - he is off sick (i 'm worried when I'm at work that he's not going to be ok, whilst I'm gone all day as currently working 12 your shifts plus 2 hours a day travelling. He's on lots of meds, beta blockers, aspirin, statins, blood pressure pills and some others along with angina spray.

Thank you for sharing about your Mum, glad she made a full recovery and makes me feel a bit better about the future x x
