15 months no periods at 47 and now I have my period

Sooo... I'm 47 single parent to an 11r old my periods stooped around 15months ago then yest I started with a headache and today at work i nipped to the loo and I. Having a full blown period ( no clots, sorry too much info) , complete with cramps and sore boobs , is this normal do you think I should bother a G.P with this ..? I'm up to date with smears etc and have been signal for over a year so no std .. a little concerned ..

You are supposed to see the doctor if you have any bleeding a year after you last had a period.

When similar happened to me my GP referred me to gynaecology because the year without periods = menopause so the new bleed was of concern.
As is turned out where I was referred to said it was quite normal, almost like your body having one last go at getting pregnant.
