Anyone else had intensely sore/burning vulva/vagina with ovarian cyst?

My problems started about 6 weeks ago when I got progressively worse burning pain in my vagina (around the entrance and vulva) which felt swollen and odd. The pain has never been itchy. At first the pain was excruciating and I really thought I was dying.

I went to the GUM clinic as I couldn't get a GP appointment who straight away who swabbed me and said my vaginal PH was not in the normal range and a lot of discharge. However, my swabs came back clear for thrush and BV.

I then managed to see my GP who thought it was PID and I took a course of antibiotics for that. The pain subsided for about a day and then came back. My GP also swabbed me for thrush, BV, gonhorrea, chlamydia and trichomonasis, all came back clear/negative. She also "inspected" me and said all looked normal but I had a lot of discharge.

The burning pain kept coming and going and eventually I also got cramping, went to A&E who said my vagina/vulva looked normal and they thought it was thrush (even though my swabs had all come back clear) and I have no itching or thrush type discharge. I had an emergency ultrasound and they found a hemorrhagic cyst on my ovary. This is the only thing that has been found during this whole drama.

So my question is, could the burning vagina/vulva really be referred pain from the cyst or could I have several issues? I don't even have cramping anymore, just this persistent sore vulva. It feels slightly dry too and a bit swollen, some days feels worse than others. I have tried so many things, done 3 thrush treatments in case the swabs were wrong, antibiotics, taken probiotics.

I am at my wits end!

Bumping - I have v similar symptoms, like you have tested negative for thrush, bv etc. I've got a follow up GP appointment but not for two weeks. Am foxed as to what it could be but I want it sorted!

I have found a product called Yes Vaginal Moisturiser has helped take the edge off the burning. You can get it online or in Planet Organic.

I am also stumped. Not sure if all my symptoms are from the cyst (I feel awful again today), or a combination of things. This has been going on for about 6 weeks now and is really getting me down!

I would be inclined to take some canesten and get some gel treatment for bv (rather than the antibiotics). I appreciate you’ve had negative swabs for them but the symptoms match and I would rather give them a go in the hope they ease the symptoms rather than put up with it.

Have you found cure? I also have an ovarian cyst and my vagina is burning. I am not sure if burning is related to ovarian cyst. and my urethra is also inflamed and irritated.

I struggled with this for years and in the end I think for me it was hormonal. It resolved with a combination of eliminating sugar from my diet, coming off the pill, a months worth of antifungals and using coconut oil as a moisturiser. Then I fell pregnant and it completely went away during pregnancy and never came back hence I think it was hormonal. I used to swell up twice the size during and after sex and get little tiny paper cut nicks all around the entrance. I think it was also candida related but never had the positive thrush swabs as eliminating sugar made a huge difference
