Tonsillitis, coughing and being sick all day

Iv had tonsillitis before but never like this, has anyone had similar - is it normal? Should I let it run it’s course or ring the doctors now...?

I feel like I have the flu, a chest infection and tonsillitis all at once!

  • tonsils are swollen and almost completely white
  • throat is painfully sore, all I can manage is water
  • when I do drink water I am sick!
Starting the sore and dryness all over again...
  • I’m lethargic
  • very feverish, intense shivers followed by sweating and hot flushes.
  • if I lie down I cough so much I am sick
  • my sinuses are completely blocked, Sudafed either makes me sick, or doesn’t work at all.

Help me please !

  • just a note to say I have been ill for about three days now, although my sinuses have been blocked for a couple of weeks. My cough has been around for about a week. I was going to go to the doctors but there’s never an appointment and I couldn’t face dragging my DD and myself up to the surgery yet....

Get an emergency appointment, you need an antibiotic, I really feel for you. If you can't keep any water down you will need to watch out for dehydration especially with the way the weather has been the last few days. I had tonsillitis a month ago and ended up in hospital for 24hrs needing iv fluids, antibiotics and steroids and that was without the blocked sinus and coughing you have going on as well! You have my full sympathy, definitely see a doctor.

I'd try to get a drs appointment as you may need antibiotics to get better. I hope you feel better soon Smile

I get tonsillitis about twice a year and the way your describing your symptoms I'd definitely go to the gp and get some antibiotics. Its the inky thing that clears my tonsillitis up!

I hope you feel better soon! Having tonsillitis is a nightmare Flowers

Antibiotics not the inky thing Hmm

Oh Thankyou everyone, I will make an appointment for tomorrow. I have perked up a bit today but all my symptoms are still there...!

I have had tonsillitis before and just remember having a stratchy throat and not eating some things. This is just awful in comparison!

Thankyou for all your kind replies xxxx

How are you now op? Glad to hear you have perked up a bit. Try gargling salt water too, but definitely see a gp

SailorJerry13 · 24/04/2019 18:23

My fever has gone on it’s own, thank the Lord. I was up all night sweating - I had the window open and my DH was freezing his bollock off in the other room, to me it felt like we were on holiday and warm air was blowing in Blush

I have gargled some salt water (gross!) and continued with paracetamol and ibuprofen and feeling much better.

Yesterday I couldn’t have cared less if the cat came and did a honking shite on the floor, today I actually hoovered the place. Although I did have to stop at that and sit down !

I’m going to see how I sleep tonight and feel in the morning, I don’t want to waste an appointment if I’m getting better anyway xx

Op I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better! I hope you've managed a decent sleep and have improved even more this morning.
