adhd and autism advice please

Hi ds has just had a cochlear implant. and for some time i as well as others have noticed he has a number of traits of autism. But whilst on the ward doctors did ask if he had adhd. Can you have both? Was also discovered he has a heart murmer!! Poor little mite. We have an appointment with peadeatrician on 23rd july but just wanted some input first from the world widely mn's. many thanks

many sources now think that ADHD is on the same spectrum as Autism. So if thats right it would be difficult to have both, but the traits would be so similar it may be ahrd in some children to distinguish between. OTOH have come across at elast one aprent who says her child is ADHD / ASD so as per most thing paediatricians all seem a rule unto themselves with diagnosis!

have you looked at the Triad of Impairments? Its quite a good system of identifying autism traits / possible diagnosis; also if you type ADHD symptoms into google you get lots of similar charts
