Just wondered as i have been feeling a bit run down lately and a bit down generally.

I don't take any vitamins at the mo. My diet is o.k but not stuffed with fruit and veg.

So do you take them ?? Which ones and why ??

I don't take vitamins. I really think it's better to have a balanced diet & get your nutrients that way. Sorry! I did take folic acid before & during my pregnancy though.

Nothing here.
There are some vitamins complex specially formulated for women, but I don't think they're that cheap. Otherwise a multivitamin and mineral supermarket's own brand should be OK at your age if you're concerned. Or just have some Vic C & Zinc to keep you free from colds this winter.
Not much help I'm afraid....

I take a teaspoonful of cod liver oil every day. Can't for the life of me remember why.

hercules · 10/09/2004 21:41

Get some blueberries inside you!

Lowryn · 10/09/2004 21:42

Well, I just had to post on here since you remembered your question!
We take vit c and zinc to help stave off colds. I also take spirulina to help with energy and weightloss - I know it's not a vitamin as such!

None here too. Have a balanced diet which hopefully provides me with all I should need. Have started to eat organic stuff and wierdo breakfast seed/nut thing (DH thinks it's bird seed) and am conscious about fruit and veg. Fingers crossed!!

luckymum · 11/09/2004 17:42

I take a multivitamin when I remember to.

I also take a cod liver oil capsule (I run so it helps my joints), and iron as I'm anaemic.

MUMINAMILLION · 11/09/2004 17:55

We all take Aloe Vera Gel cos it helps to keep us regular !!!! Also good detoxer so helps you to get the most nutrients from what you eat.

I don't take anything except Agnus Castus (herbal remedy), but I have vitamin C with zinc in my desk drawer for those times when the whole office goes down with something and I want to fend it off. I should be taking calcium though, because I definitely don't eat enough dairy.

My dh swears by ginseng when he's run down, but I don't find that it makes that much difference to me. Cutting out sugar and refined carbohydrates has made me a bit less tired though.

NomDePlume · 11/09/2004 19:21

Daily I take...

1 x High Strength Oil of Evening Primrose capsule

1 x Odourless garlic capsule

1 x Vitamin C chewable (or 2 if feeling like I'm coming down with a cold, seems to nip it in the bud).

DH has the same apart from he takes a cod liver oil capsule instead of evening primrose, as he's got really dodgy knees and ankles from a motorbike accident when he was 19.

coddychops · 11/09/2004 19:21

nothing
dont you piss it all out anyway?

motherinferior · 11/09/2004 19:26

None. I'd step up on fruit and veg, also exercise, instead, quite honestly.

hazlinh · 13/09/2004 03:29

am a compulsive pill-popper since puberty! normally take the following:

VIT A,C,E
VIT B (helps in highly stressful job, helps ward off depression slightly)
since pg and b/f, taking CALCIUM
vegetarian DHA supplements(also helps ward off depression besides being brain food)

Used to take echinacea to ward off colds, dunno if it's really effective
Used to take ginseng before pg, i found it really did help, gave me that extra OOMPH as it were. but b/f now, so don't take it.
also like gingko biloba, to aid blood circulation in my cold clammy limbs and it improves your memory!!
ooh and milk thistle and dandelion to cleanse your liver! (if you're compulsive panadol popper like me

Ooh and I try to eat lots and lots of fruit and veg. but too lazy to move mr a**se and exercise!
