Sterilisation will it help with PCOS?

I am seriously considering Sterilisation after my next child (due in 3 weeks), my doctor and consultant think I have PCOS (fell PG after 18 month trying, just before test were carried out) will Sterilisation help with this condition as I suffer from acne (and other things), which at the moment is fine due to PG and I really don't want to take tablets and creams for it once LO is born. I was wondering weather Sterilisation will help long term? DH and I really only want 3 children this being our 3rd!, DH wants to have the snip but I'm wondering weather it'll be batter if I'm the one being Sterilisation given the condition I more than likely have. Thanks Babymadxx

I wouldn't have thought it would make any difference, assuming the serilisation involves having your fallopian tubes cut it won't make any difference to the functioning of your ovaries at all. Anyway the current thinking is that PCOS is more of a metabolic syndrome where the polycystic ovaries are a symptom of the underlying condition rather than the cause.

sterilisation wont change any ovulation problems you have, it just physically stops eggs from travelling down the fallopian tube

BTW I'm not medical at all, but I do have PCOS so have read up on the subject a lot. Hopefully when everything settles down after the birth you will be referred for a diagnosis regarding the PCOS and you will be able to ask the consultant then whether sterilisation will make any difference.
