Hi
I'm due to have an op next week to remove uterine polyps and I'm absolutely terrified as they're putting me under general anaesthetic..

It's being done by hysteroscope and he said it would only take about ten mins but iv had laryngospasm before as a child with a ga so that's another worry and also how ill feel after it...

I would love to hear everyone's experiences of this op and also ga

Thank you x

I'm so glad I seen this. I'm having the same thing done this week too, along with a few extra bits. I'm also going private. Choose to go private as symptoms having such an effect on my life I just couldn't wait the 12 months + on the NHS. Is that the reason for other posters going private too? I am very frightened about the general as I just hate that feeling of coming round. Good luck OP.

I'm so glad I posted here u have all been so lovely and thank u so much for every but of input...
Mrsryangosling yes I chose to go private as the waiting list for the ultrasound scan was going to be two years and I was really worried about the fact I was bleeding between periods etc... I wsd thinking all. Sorts rather than the simple things so I had health care with work so just used it and so glad I did as I was reassured it was a probably polyp on us... I will Def update tomoror when it's all over and I'd love to hear how urs goes too x

I was in this very position this time last year.
Don't worry please, you will be fine.
I was looked after so well by the whole team, it was a positive experience as I had been really anxious beforehand.
Good luck!

I wasn't too bad after the anaesthetic just tired
I had mine done privately as I get private healthcare as paid for my employer so seemed sensible to use it. Good luck x

I had a GA recently and insisted on gas to put me out as I didn't want the feeling of stuff coarsing through my veins. They then put the cannula in once I was out. I suffer really bad with anxiety and gas was much easier. Good luck

Hello, I know this is an old thread but have just been told I have a polyp which needs removing. I went private for the scan but the consultant is writing to my GP. I just wondered if anyone could tell me how long it took and if it was expensive to go private? We are experiencing infertility so want this polyp out.
