Nappy Rash or something else?

DD is out of a nappy except for overnight. For the last month or so, she has been getting red spots on her buttocks, which I assumed was nappy rash - or perhaps a reaction to wearing a nappy during the heat. Everynight before I put her bedtime nappy on, I cover her bottom with sudocream. Yesterday one of the spots got much larger. It is very red, and seems to have a "lump" under it. It doesn't seem to bother dd, but she doesn't like me to touch it. Any ideas what this could be, and what I should do about it?

Not very exciting topic for a Friday night, but would be grateful for thoughts/suggestions. Anyone?

Are they more like pimples/red follicles? Do you thinkthat the sudocrem has blocked one of the skin pores and it literally is just a spot? Our DD had red pimples on the part of her bum that rubbed against the cotton pants. I was really careful to use only comfort pure softrinse and non-bio powder and over time it improved.

poppyseed - I only put on the sudocream when her bottom is looking spotty - and it has done for most of the last month. It does look like pimples, but there's no head. Will think about the washing powder, and contemplate changing brands if the problem persists. I've been thinking it will clear on it's own, but this particular spot has me a bit worried. If it is still looking angry on Monday, I may have it checked out by a doctor.

Hmmm sounds a good idea to me. It may be something that my DH gets (and I wonder if DD is the same) called (i think) folliculitis, where the skin follicle becomes red and sometimes infected. I'm afraid that if anything looks a bit strange I usually slap a bit of hydrocortisone on (I know, I know, but it works!!)and canesten HC is even better!! Good luck at the gps, sorry I can't be any more help to you.
