9 mo wheezing after cold - how normal is this

DS has had a very snotty cold with a cough for a couple of days. Noticed last night that he was a bit wheezy and still a problem this morning. My inclination is to whisk him down to the gp (trying to get through for an appointment), but is this normal after a cough and will it go away on its own?

Am slightly paranoid about his as I'm asthmatic and on the watch for any symptoms.

I'd say if in doubt get it checked out Effie, I've had a couple of episodes with my ds getting wheezy and getting very short of breath and the GP's just told me to get to the hospital for nebulizers. Hope it isn't that serious for you though, good luck.

Mine were always prone to being wheezy after colds and when they were seen by a specialist, we were told that some children are just prone to wheezing. That said, you know your own child and if you are even slightly concerned, take him to see a doctor.

DS2 always gets a bit rattly after a cough and cold, but is fine in the main, would definitely go to GP's (if anything to ease your worries)

get him to the docs
if it is nothing, you will be reassured and if it is something which needs treating you are in the right place
hope he perks up

see your GP. He may have post-viral respiratory hypersensitivity. Common after RSV infection apparently. Often confused with asthma if the GP is dung.

he is currently destroying the flat (while wheezing and snotting) so isn't too bad at the moment...

update: took him to GP, who prescribed some baby nurofen. There's a bug going round but his chest is clear, which is a relief
