Go see a good optometrist.
Definately do not use steroid cream around eyes.

I got dermatitis around my yes (eyelids and crease) AND in creases by nose

no creams helped - went to a homeopath and gave up coffee - disappeared in a month

EnidJane · 10/07/2007 19:45

you are mad if you are still wearing eye make up

chuyck all of it away and dont wear any for a week

puddle · 10/07/2007 19:45

I can wear eye make up now! But had to totally stop wearing it for a couple of months.

Really it does sound like an allergy. have you tried anti-allergy drops?

Sunglasses for a week, cleanse eye with cooled boiled water. And, oh dear, you'll have to buy some new make-up

EnidJane · 10/07/2007 19:46

have you tried taking piriton or summat fora cuple of days

could be hay fever

Mercy · 10/07/2007 19:46

Is your make up/applicator old?

You could be constantly transferring an infection of some kind.

See your doc.

puddle · 10/07/2007 19:47

i think once you have an allergic reaction the more you mess about (ie changing creams round your eyes, changing products) the worse it can get.

Yes, you can have an infection in outer corner of eyelid, one eye only. I've had it myself as a matter of fact.

Can't recall exact name of the bug right offhand but ab's should clear it up nicely for you. Not sure what they use over there. I tend to prescribe Tobradex (comes in drops and ointment) which is an antibiotic/steroid combo.

Mercy · 10/07/2007 19:52

How often do you wash your hair then normally?

I'd look even more like Worzel Gummidge if I washed my hair more than once a week.

shampoo makes my eyes go red and weird for abit.

ThomasTankEngine · 10/07/2007 19:54

0.5% ok, but still best avoided if possible IMHO.
Antihist eye drops take 3 monthso have an effect.
Could be a no. of things from an allergy, a virus, or recurrent epithelial erosions (cells on front of cornea damaged)
A decent optician should be able to diagnose. Gps dont hAve all nec equipment

popsycal · 10/07/2007 19:56

my mum gets this from time to time
each time she bins any eye makeup that she cant sharpen (eg keep pencils etc). CLears it up quick

aha. It's you again allergic one.

If it is happening at night it may be your washing powder. My eyes were a mess. I have a horrific pic which I could mail you so you can feel better about yourself).

I discovered it was the washing powder when we went away for a week and it cleared up. Came back got up next morning - utter mess.

mail me on [email protected] if you want to see a scary pic. It took me months to find out it was the washing powder. Am fine now.
