from sitting down.
Is there anything at all that can be done?
he mentioned to his GP who took his BP and said it was fine and sent him on his way.

Sounds like an inner ear problem possibly? Maybe an infection, or has he had a knock recently? Look up the hair cells inside cochlea (cuplea?) if they get knocked off it can disturb balance. Epley manouevre can fix this.

It sounds like positional vertigo. My husband had this after whiplash and epley maneouvre fixed it.

Is it tipping his head back and definitely not to the side slightly? Was thinking possibly bppv

Or POTS - Postural Tachycardia Syndrome? My GP sent me to a specialist and they checked my BP dynamically (strapped to a tilt table and they check it while moving you around). Ask for a referral.

he did have a fall beginning of the year.
can he do the eply manoeuvre himself?

It's worth asking the GP about carotid sinus syndrome / hypersensitivity.

Justonemorepancake · 11/03/2019 08:19

He can certainly give it a go, yes. Should be able to find out how online. It's tilting the head in various directions to funnel 'stuff' back into place! But apparently feels pretty unpleasant to do if that is the cause.

Sorry, it's epley, lots of vids on YouTube. He'll need your help.

THanks all
