Patch of hair on babys back

My 8 week old baby has a patch of hair on their back, on the spine. At birth the midwife checked with a paediatric who didnt seem concerned by it.
At my babys 8wk check however the doctor does and is sending us to see a specialist. He said not to worry it was precautionary but obviously i am worried and made the mistake of googling.
This said its a sign of spina bifida and now im overcome with worry.
Has anyone else ever been through this?

Yes. My DD had a very deep sacral dimple (another sign of SB) she was sent for scans, all ok. The hole is slowly closing as she gets older.

Thank you for your reply. Did they give you any advice on other signs to look for early on? Appt isnt until 22nd march and i dont think i can stop worrying until then.

Same as above both two DD had sacral dimples and hair, first time I was panicked second time I knew what it was so was fine. Apparently it can run in families. If the skin is all closed or no hole despite the simple it's fine
