Has anyone had this? I have not been diagnosed but I have had awful stabbing pains in my outer thigh for about a week and dr google says it could be this.

I had this last week for a few days. I do have other hip pain that I’m off to physio for soon, so don’t know if it’s related.

I have had m p for years. Mine is not painful; it just feels a bit numb/pins and needles-ish, as if an anaesthetic is wearing off. The sensation fluctuates in severity. I declined the gp's offer of medication; it can be treated with, iirc, low doses of old-fashioned antidepressants. I've just got used to it.

My problem is caused by an issue with my hip. If you have a high bmi, weight loss can alleviate it.

If I were you, I'd get it checked to ensure it's nothing serious, and to see if it's worth trying medication if it continues to bother you.

Yes, I’ve had this, and like Fozzleyplum mine was a large numb patch on the outer thigh, possible due to a trapped nerve. I’ve had several hip operations over the years so probably related. Some stretching exercises help sometimes.

I’ve also had Bursitis on the hip, and that is painful and treated with steroid injections.

Another one who's had it years.
At one point it was that painful I attended a&e worried it was a blood clot. Due to medication I take already they couldn't offer anything but patches (which were shite) however over the years it's less painful more numb but very sensitive to touch. If the kids catch it with their knees then holy crap!

Can you describe what it feels like? Mine is on and off shooting pain in one exact spot and slightly tender to touch. It's not numb or tingling though. Does it sound like MP?
