pain in groin - hernia?

for the past 3 years, ie since I gave birth to our son, I have on rare occassions, had a huge pain in my right groin (where a man might get a hernia) if I've coughed at night while laying flat out in bed. I'm now 15 weeks pregnant with No 2 and the occurences have increased. It happened the other night when i sneezed (again lying flat out in bed) and yesterday, it happened as I tried to get out of bed.
The pain doesn't last at all but it takes my breath away and makes me cry out, that's how painful it is.
I'm very active and I do not feel any pain when running, swimming or in the gym.

Anyone fancy having a guess what it might be?
And more importantly, should I be worried and try and get something done about it?

Thanks for any hlep/advice.

My ds had severe groin pain earlier this year. I thought it was a hernia but it turned out to be his lymph glands. Do you have any tenderness under your arms or in your neck? If so, could be viral. You can usually feel a hernia with your fingers I think. My ds's pain stopped him from walking for a day or two, yours has gone on much longer so may not be much help! I would see GP just for peace of mind.
