I'm guessing this is very common by the responses . I'm hoping that one of these solutions work for me

Self massage. Yoga to stretch.

Sketchers go walk shoes, fit flop type ones for slippers at home (stopped going barefoot).

Stopped wearing ballerina pumps with thin soles and that were half a size too big to walk to work in - had been “clawing” toes to keep them on.

Weight loss would’ve been my next step had it not cleared up!

Loads of sympathy as had this when pregnant and i couldn't take ibuprofen! I think i got it from wearing flip flops and going barefoot pkus extra weight. I saw a physio who recommended vionic shoes but i bought new balance which have removable insoles, i then put in orthopaedic insoles. However my foot was so swollen tjat this took a while!
I also used a foot spa to help circulation and did most of the stretches already mentioned. The foot scrunching one was important as i think it strengthened my arch. Good luck, its agony

I've had mine since last summer, it was wearing Birkenstocks that caused it

I thought Birkies were good for feet.

EthelFechan · 21/02/2019 10:17

Apologies for calling them Birkies Blush

Asking around, everyone has a completely different story how they finally got better from their PF.

Mine seems to be hamstring related which I guess is unusual (most people mention calves, some mention hips).

Wearing heels makes mine much worse. Really have to be careful to avoid even small heels.
Massage, ice: no help.
Injections, arch supports, anti-inflams: never tried.
Stretches probably stop muscle tightening, but didn't make PF better for me.
Going bare foot was fine (good even), didn't aggravate, not relevant.

. After about 5months of pain that was triggered even by a short sprint across a carpark. I do heel lifts kind of religiously now. Back to running 12-16 miles//week :).

I am a fan of the Bob & Brad vids, several cover PF:

There are 2 Facebook groups for plantar fasciitis with tens of thousands of members sharing experiences and remedies that help them. I’ve had it twice. First time fixed with orthopaedic inserts and throwing away stupid shoes like flip flops and ballet pumps. Second time had it for a year. Fixed with stretching calf and top of foot. Massage to all around calves and top of foot. Heelease machine used on calf and base of foot. Also took turmeric and magnesium. Some like heat, some like cold. Everyone is different.
