Hi Everyone, I'm currently pregnant with my first (its a girl) and have recently become aware that some people don't vaccinate their children or only vaccinate them against some diseases e.g. meningitis but not others like flu or MMR.
I was just wondering if any other expectant mothers found the same thing, or if anyone has any advice!
This is a whole new world of me and I'm confused!

OP posts:
bringinginthesheep · 17/02/2019 19:31

All of them because I'm not willing to let my child die from a preventable illness.

InterchangeableEmma · 17/02/2019 19:31

Both my children have had all vaccinations.

Thenameisweasley · 17/02/2019 19:31

All of them because I like my child to be protected against what she can be - I'm sure the days before vaccines where great fun when people died of preventable diseases Grin

SoyDora · 17/02/2019 19:32

All of them, why wouldn’t I?

newcupcake · 17/02/2019 19:32

All of them plus chicken pox

Skincaresos · 17/02/2019 19:32

All of them. None of them have developed any unsubstantiated spurious side effects, but they have avoided dying from a multitude of diseases, bonus!

eurochick · 17/02/2019 19:33

All of them on the standard schedule plus Men B (because she just missed out on that being introduced) and chickenpox.

Vaccines are pretty amazing. However I will admit to being nervous about vaccines in pregnancy. While I was dithering about whether to have whooping cough, my baby arrived prem so that decision was made for me.

FadedRed · 17/02/2019 19:33

As soon as one (anti) vaccine thread finishes, another one begins..........yawn

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/02/2019 19:33

Good luck with this thread OP. You do realise you CANNOT question the current vaccination schedule in the U.K. on Mumsnet?

Anyway, I spaced my kids’ vaccines a bit. Missed rotavirus. Did single measles. No flu vaccines, no HPV. Generally, they are fully vaccinated though but mumps and rubella isn’t currently available in the UK

dietcokemegafan · 17/02/2019 19:33

All of them. Of course.

ShouldHaveListenedInBiology · 17/02/2019 19:33

All of them.

greenelephantscarf · 17/02/2019 19:34

all of them apart from bcg (personal decision) + chicken pox vaccine (privately)

BollocksToBrexit · 17/02/2019 19:34

All of them as I'd rather trust my child's life to 250 years of medical research than 5 minutes on google.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 17/02/2019 19:35

Mumps and rubella are available in the UK
They are the mr after measles

golddigga · 17/02/2019 19:35

All of them. Don't be one of THOSE mums for gods sake. I would actively ensure my child avoided any who hadn't had all of them. Don't put your child at risk, that would be idiotic to be blunt

BikeRunSki · 17/02/2019 19:35

My Dc (7, 10) have had all the vaccinations recommended by the NHS and all the flu vacs offered since. They will continue to do so as they go through school. They would also have had Chicken Pox jabs if I’d known about them before they’d had chicken pox.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 17/02/2019 19:36

All of them plus I paid privately for meningitis as my dd was just slightly too old to get it.

Courchevel · 17/02/2019 19:36

All of them. I believe in science.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 17/02/2019 19:37

To answer your question op
All of them that are offered.
The NHS wouldn't give them if they didn't work or weren't important and I trust the medical research which is constantly reviewed. The diseases they vaccinate against can lead to life changing problems or be fatal so of course I would want to prevent that

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/02/2019 19:37

Yes sorry - single mumps and rubella isn’t available, as pointed out by the goady PP.

So if you don’t want your child to
have three live vaccines at once, you are screwed basically.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 17/02/2019 19:38

Love this faith in the NHS. This the same NHS that still offers a carb based diet for type 2 diabetes?

FromDespairToHere · 17/02/2019 19:38

All of them. I grew to quite like DD and decided I wanted to keep her, so I thought I'd do my best to not let her die from a preventable disease.

SauvignonBlanche · 17/02/2019 19:38

I wouldn’t want my child to die of any preventable disease so there are none I would exclude them from having the benefits of.

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 17/02/2019 19:38

Did you mean me being goady for pointing that out?

greendale17 · 17/02/2019 19:39

All of them. You would be stupid not to vaccinate your baby.
