Have you considered a low carb diet? You get into what's called ketosis, which is a natural appetite suppressant.

I know that it gets a bad press, but it is really worth considering. I can honestly say that it is the best thing I have ever done - it has stopped me obsessing about food and totally controls my appetite.

More importantly, I have lost a stone and three-quarters and managed to keep it off for over 3 years now.

Good books - Atkins, The New Diet Revolution, Charles Clarke The High Protein Diet, India Knight & Neris Thomas The Idiot Proof Diet

Sounds like you lack motivation a bit. Why dont you take DS for a (fast) stroll (assuming he's in a buggy) every day and make sure your heart rate is up and you are slightly breathless. If you do this for at least 20 minutes 3 times a week you should start seeing a bit of a difference, not only to your energy levels but also to your general fitness.

Unfortunately with exercise, you have to speculate to accumulate as it were. The more you do, the more energy you get.

Good luck!

no hone4stl dancy dancy, it makes you feel fabulous

Eat exactly the same but half the amount. No food is a sin. You won't feel hungry.

NikkiBFG · 04/07/2007 22:48

RG - your idea is great but in this weather...ugh! I do lack motivation though....it seems like really hard work to get showered etc (I'm on of those people who can't leave the house unless showered etc!) and get DS ready.....

Oh yes, totally agree with BIWI about low carb diets. I lost 17lbs recently (but am now pg and totally wanted to throw up at the thought of low carb food due to MS).

It's a great way of eating. You can also get lots of support from HERE on the forum and the site also has recipes for you to try as well.

Your energy levels will go up ten fold after the initial 2-3 days that your body gets used to burning fat in a different way!

RGPargy · 04/07/2007 22:49

Nikki - wear a raincoat :P

I think it's nice sometimes to go walking in the rain!!

moondog · 04/07/2007 22:57

Well padded.

Don'y you wear hijab and a long coat Nikki?
Undoubtedly many benefits to being able to cover up lumps and bumps like that?

NikkiBFG · 04/07/2007 23:00

I do wear hejab but not a long coat! Anyway, my weight loss is for me, regardless of whether I cover it up or not....

Mmm...seems like I just need a kickstart...I did the GI diet before which worked wonders and was able to maintain the weight very easily but again...motivation!

I couldn't keep motivated with home dvd.
When i lived in Turkey, loads of gals would come to the gym in headscarves.

These things may or may not help - worked for me a few years ago - try not to eat after 6pm ish so that your body can properly digest anything before you go to bed, give up all fizzy drinks, make sure eat decent meal at meal time so do not get hungry later - if hungry an hour or two after a meal, drink some water to trick stomach!
