Good evening lacies Glitterball and welcome to another thread. We filled the previous one rather quickly with dog stories Grin

Hello to any new posters. Feel free to join us if you've got any sort of cancer, or if you're waiting to find out if you have it. We are always happy to share our experience and hold hands, and even happier when we get to wave goodbye to people who have had the all clear :) (please do come back and let us know either way - sometimes people just disappear into the sunset, leaving us wondering whether they were OK or not!)

It's helpful if you can post a quick (re)introduction, even if you're a regular on the thread, to save people having to remember or to refer back to previous threads. There's no need to "catch up" - just join in whenever you want to.

Great news Born take care of yourself Flowers

KeepCalm I'm glad you won't have to wait until May! I hope you heard about the radiotherapy today :)

noodles enjoy your new recipes!

purple it sounds a bit of a cliché, but it may well bring them closer together. Though hopefully before you die so you can spend more time with them both too Flowers

iVampire what did you do this time?! Star sadly I'm too weak even for excursions round the house now, to be honest. I get completely out of breath just moving about to get washed/changed etc. I'm amazed I'm still alive, to be honest! Everything seems such a challenge for my lungs/heart.

I've been sleeping and watching telly most of the day. I've moved on to the Office US version now. It is quite entertaining. I don't like Steve Carell, but I'm overlooking that. Hopefully I'll feel up to some crochet later.

I'm waving feebly to you all and sending hugs to those who need them Flowers

Ah, lots of love to you, Lesley Thanks

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 12/03/2019 20:34

Thanks Leslie. I hope you've kept those pesky visitors at bay Wink

iVampire · 12/03/2019 21:36

What did I do?

I raced against Mo Farah (big event in Lonfon last Sunday), Great fun, very windy!

I hope that if you can’t visit the cheese, it is brought to your by nice and welcome visitors 🧀

TwitterQueen1 · 12/03/2019 22:47

Hope you're feeling OK Born

Leslie good to hear you're managing to enjoy some Netflix. It gets harder and harder to find stuff worth watching on tv, though I'll plug Home (ch 4, Tuesdays 9.45pm) and Race Across the World (Sundays 9pm ch2).

Had my third complementary and complimentary massage today. It was lovely. Smile. It helps to alleviate the stress of knowing my CA125 is just going up and up... now 1033.

Purple are you still getting comfort from your blanket? Have you got used to it now? Hope you are still at home and resting.

CazY777 · 13/03/2019 13:38

Noodles thanks for asking how the radio is going. I have my 17th session this afternoon, so not long to go now. My skin is red and a bit sore and itchy in places, but not as bad as I thought it would be. For some reason on Sunday I was getting pain in my scar whenever I lifted my arm up, but that's gone off now. Hope your skin is starting to heal.

Leslie, I did manage to eat some of my curry, thanks, but I'll probably leave any more big cook ups until after my treatment has finished. We have a camembert in the fridge that was bought to try out that recipe with the bread you suggested, but we haven't got round to it yet. I'm sure it's well ripe by now!

beechtreesinspring · 13/03/2019 13:44

Hi,
I hope it's ok to post here, I've seen this thread in active convos a few times.

I've been having intermenstrual and postcoital bleeding for quite a while now and finally went to see my practice nurse.

I'd been worried I would be wasting their time but she has referred me under the 2 week wait.

So now I'm v worried and wish I'd gone sooner:-(. I don't know if anyone here has any experience of what tests are likely as the nurse didn't say, just said the hospital would decide when they saw me.

Dulcedelecherocks · 13/03/2019 13:54

Hi beech sorry you find yourself in here and hope you don't stay!

TQ is the in-house expert on all things ovarian and she should hopefully be able to shed you some light.

I don't know anything about it as I'm a member of the bowel club but didn't want to read and run.

Dulcedelecherocks · 13/03/2019 13:56

On another note for those or you looking for something short and sweet to watch, there is a short series on itv called cheat which is quite good. I think it's a 4 or 5 episode thing and it started on Monday. I watched the first 2 and found it excellent. Worth trying!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

beechtreesinspring · 13/03/2019 13:57

Dulcedelecherocks thank you for your response I appreciate it!

purpleunicorns · 13/03/2019 14:12

So good to hear from you Penguins! Very cute rabbit, I used to have 2 called Molly and Molly but I was allergic to them so had to rehome them

TQ I've been using the weighted blanket every night and it's definitely helping me sleep better

Welcome Beech, they will possibly do an internal scan. It's totally painless so don't worry, try and keep busy until your appointment to take your mind off it Thanks

I'm really struggling today with walking, I'm having to crawl upstairs as the bottom of my back is so painful so I'm spending the day crocheting the blanket kit I bought.

Sending hugs and waving back feebly to Leslie, I hope you're comfortable and managed to avoid any unwanted visitors

beechtreesinspring · 13/03/2019 14:17

Thanks purpleunicorns

TwitterQueen1 · 13/03/2019 16:47

Hello Beechtrees sorry you find yourself here. I can't really help I'm afraid - I have ovarian cancer, which didn't involve any bleeding. Try not to worry too much (if only....) chances are it's nothing, but it's great that you're being taken seriously.

Toofaroutallmylife · 13/03/2019 16:49

Hi, I got my ongoing treatment plan today- I’m going to have immunotherapy- Pembrolizumab every 3 weeks for a year. Has anyone on here had this? I think most lacies are on chemo or radio, but I just wondered if there were any lurkers out there?!

Otherwise I might have to venture onto the Macmillan forum, but that seems a much scarier place!

Purple - sorry you’re in so much pain

Beech - sorry you find yourself here. The waiting really is the worst bit - distracting yourself is the best way through it

beechtreesinspring · 13/03/2019 16:59

Thanks for replying TwitterQueen and toofaroutallmylife.

I'm glad they're taking it seriously but also freaked out as I'd assumed they would say it's just hormones as I'm 44. Ah well...

Thanks for the advice to keep busy, at least my life is v busy with 4 kids and work, dh etc so that I hopefully won't have lots of time to dwell on the might bes.

Thank you to you all for taking the time to reply to me when you all have your own stuff going on.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 13/03/2019 18:00

Welcome beech Flowers but I'm sorry you've had to join us. Hopefully it'll be something harmless. Remember the two week wait doesn't necessarily mean they think cancer is likely, just that it's one possible explanation of the symptoms so they want to rule it out quickly. It sounds like you're very busy so hopefully that will help distract you while you wait for an answer.

Toofar sorry, I've nothing useful to say, but I'm glad you've got a plan now Star

purple Flowers you poor thing. You really shouldn't be in that much pain/difficulty. Does your Macmillan nurse have any ideas? Is there somewhere you could fit a bed downstairs instead? I know it's a huge and awful step so I'm not suggesting it lightly. But it might make things a bit easier. And you don't have to use it every day, just if you were really struggling.

Dulce thanks for the recommendation. I will look that up :)

Caz I'm glad you got some curry. Definitely try and take it easy while you are going through the treatment. It's exhausting enough. Enjoy your Camembert Grin I find cooking it seems to take the edge off.

TQ I'm glad you enjoyed your massage. Very well deserved Flowers grrrrr to CA125.

That's fantastic iVampire Star sorry if you already said that Blush my mind is just a complete jumble at the moment.

I've been sleeping most of the day again. The nurse had increased the dose of Buscopan in my syringe driver to hopefully help my breathing (it reduces secretions). I think it's working, but it's probably a bit early to tell. I can't do anything without getting out of breath. Even just repositioning myself in bed.

Also my Facebook won't let me post anything, which is a bit frustrating as it's how I keep my family/friends up to date rather than having to reply individually. I know that's a bit lazy and impersonal, but I have very limited energy.

Anyway, sending love to you all. I hope you've all had as OK a day as possible Glitterball

Leslie I've thought about asking for a bed but it stupidly seems like the next step to just giving up Blush my nurse is off next week so I'll see what he says when I see him the week after. I'm just so fed up of feeling rubbish but I know it's only going to get worse. I keep falling asleep and feeling even worse when I wake up

Grr to your Facebook not working, I think you're doing amazingly by keeping everybody up to date. People who I haven't spoken to in months have messaged me but I've just been ignoring them, I've even deleted quite a few of them as I know they are just enjoying the drama

On a positive note my brothers coming round with a chippy tea so I don't need to attempt to cook tonight Grin

Dollykitten · 13/03/2019 19:11

Beech-I was referred under the two week wait a few years back. I had post menopausal bleeding. Got an appointment really quickly and they did an internal and external ultrasound of my uterus to measure the lining etc. Then I saw the consultant who did a hysteroscopy and a biopsy. She was very reassuring and I got the results back quickly to say all was fine.
The main thing is to get these things checked out and chances are all will be well.

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 13/03/2019 19:12

Too far some of us are on Herceptin injections every 3 weeks for a year, which is possibly a similar thing - it's and antibody. I've only had 2 so far along with my chemo x

TwitterQueen1 · 13/03/2019 19:24

Facebook and Insta are down across many countries! No idea why... trolls maybe... Don't you dare touch MN hairy people!

twoseven · 13/03/2019 19:43

Leslie Hope you are enjoying the Office American version. There's a whole world on Reddit DunderMifflin devoted to it. Many have watched all episodes many times over. I love Steve Carell in this. Infact I love it. Hope you like it as much as Parks!
Purple So sorry to hear of your news. I didn't realise how young you were. I hope you are getting pain relief. I hope you are getting everything you wantFlowers

Dulcedelecherocks · 13/03/2019 20:02

Sorry TQ for assuming you would know. That just shows how much I don't know about it!! And I should really as apparently I'm very high risk for both ovarian and endometrial cancer until I have it all taken out

Sorry you're feeling so shit purple. You're not giving up my lovely, you're very sick and your body is not strong to do what you want to. Please don't feel guilty. I know it's easier said than done. And also I'd be the same with the ignoring and deleting people. There are too many drama chasers in this world!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 13/03/2019 21:50

Hellooooo everyone.

Love all round!

Beech so sorry you're here. Two week wait sounds scary but as Leslie says, they're ruling out cancer rather than thinking you've got it.

Purple that sounds pretty awful tbh (though yay for chips!). I totally see what you're saying about the bed, but you must be at risk of really hurting yourself if you're pushing yourself to get upstairs when it's so hard? I'm about to have a downstairs bathroom put in which feels like admitting defeat but am trying to be realistic about how things will be.

Leslie as ever, your posts are just incredibly selfless, kind and caring. Also how the hell are you managing to type so coherently after all those drugs? Grin didn't realise you were watching the US Office. One of my favourites.

KeepCalm · 14/03/2019 08:22

Morning all! Sun is shining here which is a lovely but rare thing so am lying in a sun beam enjoying it Grin

Got a call back from Rads yesterday so I start again on Monday for my final 11 doses hopefully repositioning will help me fall into their parameters. I also have an appointment with the oncologist and get to pick up my new prosthetic boob Smile

DH and I have sadly worked out just how much debt we're in. Years of ploughing everything we have into the business and ignoring it all has not paid off. Unfortunately we were getting there but with me having to pay staff to cover me my wage bill has shot up £2k a month and I just can't afford it.

So. If you need me I'll be on eBay selling EVERYTHING BlushSad

Pandoraslastchance · 14/03/2019 10:52

Hi guys. I'm so sorry that I've been mia but I've been absolutely knocked for six by the shingles. I'm so bloody tired.

Much love to all.
