Good evening lacies Glitterball and welcome to another thread. We filled the previous one rather quickly with dog stories Grin

Hello to any new posters. Feel free to join us if you've got any sort of cancer, or if you're waiting to find out if you have it. We are always happy to share our experience and hold hands, and even happier when we get to wave goodbye to people who have had the all clear :) (please do come back and let us know either way - sometimes people just disappear into the sunset, leaving us wondering whether they were OK or not!)

It's helpful if you can post a quick (re)introduction, even if you're a regular on the thread, to save people having to remember or to refer back to previous threads. There's no need to "catch up" - just join in whenever you want to.

Sending SO much more than luck Flowers Flowers Wine Glitterball

purpleunicorns · 26/02/2019 12:48

Best of luck KBG Thanks I hope it's good news

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 26/02/2019 13:00

Oh man I'm so relieved there's no secondary in his liver! They're proposing to operate first and then curative chemo post op.
Weird how your perspective of what constitutes good news changes!!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 26/02/2019 13:03

That’s absolutely fantastic. So relieved for you both

TwitterQueen1 · 26/02/2019 14:12

Fantastic news what a relief! Flowers!

Ginisatonic · 26/02/2019 14:23

That is truly shitty treatment purple. No excuse for that.
Great news kbg
Flowers to everyone else

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 26/02/2019 14:25

Fantastic news, KBG Flowers

sunday that's wonderful news too. What a relief Flowers

Well done on ticking another session off, Caz Star

purple I hope that the antibiotics are helping Flowers you could ask about D mannose. I'm taking it as I had some issues with UTIs before Christmas. It's mentioned in NICE guidance, but I don't know if it's different because of your nephrostomy tubes etc. Not instead of antibiotics, obviously.

I threw up while the district nurses were here Blush so they gave me an extra morphine and antisickness injection and also upped the dose of antisickness in my syringe driver.

KBG - really pleased your husband has got the news that is hasn't spread. Like you say perspective on good news changes but hopefully this will be something of a relief for you both.

Sorry you've been sick Leslie. Hope the meds will improve things for you.

Purple service from you Doctor was crap and sorry to hear about cannula troubles. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and they had similar trouble with a cannula for me. It's awful when they keep trying and can't do it as it tires you out.

Name change - hope coughing has improved and you are feeling more comfortable today.

xxx

Borntobeamum · 26/02/2019 19:41

KBG That's so nice to hear. When I was told I had colon cancer, The consultant said there were no signs of it spreading to my liver. But they then booked a Thoracic CT scan to check no invasion of lungs or beasts.
The wait from Tuesday to Friday was horrific but I too got the all clear.
My surgery is next Thursday and my pre op is this Thursday.
Im Also seeing a cardiologist on Thursday as I have a possible heart problem too x x

Taytotots · 27/02/2019 14:18

Great news KBG - both on hospital escape and DH. Also Hug - bit late to the party on that one! Good luck with your operation Born.
Made it up to my oncology review finally (third time lucky no snow or ice storms this time!) and all good. CEA 3.6 which is slightly higher than 'normal' but not worrying to oncologist.
Glitterball and puppies to all - especially Leslie and purple.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 27/02/2019 16:03

Good news about your review Tayto Glitterball

Borntobe good luck tomorrow :)

I hope the extra antisickness is helping Leslie, I'll ask about the D Mannose when I see my consultant

Born I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow and you don't have a heart problem, you have enough to deal with Thanks

That's good news Tayto. I'd kill for some snow right now. My temperature hasn't been below 38.2 for days

I'm still in hospital having antibiotics but as my temperature isn't going down they're going to change them to different one. My cannula fell out last night but luckily I had a really good doctor who managed to get a new one in on the first attempt. I was so relieved I could have kissed him Grin

Borntobeamum · 27/02/2019 18:37

purple Too right I do!
I also have Barretts oesophagus and a Hiatus Hernia! Fingers crossed this heart problem won't delay my surgery. I just want it over with now x x

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 27/02/2019 20:26

Yippee for that doctor purple! You must be fed up. I hope your temperature comes down soon Flowers

My cheers to that doctor too, purple !

‘Weird how your perspective of what constitutes good news changes!!’

So damned true! Because I saw a lovely doctor this week to talk poo. (Recap: what took me to the doctors in the first place was poo changes, the bloods went bing-bong and blood cancer diagnosed, could not have colonoscopy because of the risk of bowel prep upsetting oral chemo, scanned instead))

Now stable on a kind of functional remission, I can go back into the ‘normal’ system. So this week I had a routine GI appt, discussed poo with a lovely doctor, who in the light of earlier scans has put me in queue for routine colonoscopy (but having had first appt, it’ll be fairly soon). There are some inflammatory conditions he wants to check for, and he made it all sound routine and thoroughly unworrying. What a lovely change!

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 27/02/2019 23:29

iVampire Grin Grin just a nice relaxing colonoscopy to look forward to!

Glad that it doesn’t sound concerning though. That’a brilliant news.

Borntobeamum · 28/02/2019 08:33

Arrived at hospital for my pre assessment at 9am, and the seeing the cardiologist at 3pm.
Wish me luck x x

iVampire · 28/02/2019 09:11

I suspect the words ‘relaxing’ and ‘colonoscopy’ are rarely juxtaposed like that! I do feel lucky that the investigations are for an inflammatory condition rather than a malignancy. And indeed it might come up entirely clear - my main cancer drug can cause GI side effects - in which case I get referred for dietary advice to minimise symptoms

Hoping that everyone had s chance to enjoy the warm spell. This time last year the Beast from the East was striking!

iVampire · 28/02/2019 09:12

And Born - all the luck in the world Flowers

Frustrated....
CT results from a week ago Monday still not clarified... one tumour 'disappeared' but another one grown right next to it.. another one slightly reduced.
CA125 blood markers going in the wrong direction but the latest sample from 6 days ago still isn't back yet apparently. Finally spoke to my nurse by the consultant has been out for 2 days so no further news.

After 2 months it would be good to have some idea as to whether or not the drugs are working....

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 28/02/2019 17:20

Frustrated on your behalf too, TQ. I hope you get some answers soon Flowers

iVampire it's good they're not concerned :)

Borntobe I hope your appointments went well Flowers

Waving to everyone. I started posting hours ago then fell asleep. I've been sleeping/dozing all day really. Sometimes I start to completely panic, but to be honest I don't have much energy for that!

Borntobeamum · 28/02/2019 17:55

What a long day that's been. I have a huge bag of drinks etc to take prior to the surgery.
I absolutely hated the bike ride - the mask and nose clip made me feel claustrophobic and it also showed my heart was beating too fast and not squeezing enough blood out. They sent me for an echo then.
I already had an appointment with the cardiologist for my possible Left Bundle branch Block and he was just how I remember doctors being when I was young. In his 60's and of the old school. He wasn't concerned about my LBBB and said they were wrong to flag up the poor performance of my heart - the echo looked absolutely fine.
I should find out the date for the surgery tomorrow. I'm absolutely shattered and felt very emotional being taken into these little waiting rooms for BP, ECG's etc. I'm afraid I cried and had a bit of a meltdown but the staff were fantastic and said I was coping so well with everything that had been thrown at me (Heart, Barratts oesophagus, hernia and Colon cancer)
God bless the NHS X X

Toofaroutallmylife · 28/02/2019 18:05

Born - sorry your day has been so tough, but overall it sounds like you’re moving in the right direction? I’m not surprised you had a cry - completely understandable Flowers.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 28/02/2019 21:09

Born have a cry. You have had so much to get your head around.

TQ I’m SO frustrated for you. This is kinda important
