Referred to breast clinic and waiting for results

Tips on how to keep sane and stay away from Dr Google wormhole...

Referred to the breast clinic but mammogram was inconclusive so had a biopsy done and now waiting for results... was referred for a MRI but since I was TTC we can’t be sure I am not pg so it will have to wait until my period. Likely biopsy results will come first though. Trying to be positive and just carry on as normal until told otherwise...

Just bumping for you Lillian so hopefully you can get some more experiences of biopsy’s.
Will be thinking of you this week. Hope you find some gentle distraction for this weekend. I know the waiting can be really hard. STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE.

I had my second breast biopsy on Tuesday. I got the results this coming Monday. They told me when I went for the first results that the sample was cancer free and just wanted to do another one to make sure. I asked the doctor who did my second biopsy why They were doing it again and she said that the first sample was undetermined???
That said, they did tell me that over 90% of women who attend for biopsy are cancer free.
I'm just trying to keep occupied until Monday. I already have another incurable cancer so am used to the stress of waiting for results.
I hope everything goes well for you.

So sorry to see that sugarplum. My DH has an incurable Cancer so I know how life changing it is. Hope the biopsy comes back all clear.

Borntobeamum · 09/02/2019 19:55

I too am waiting G for results regarding colon cancer. I should find out next week.

It's sheer torture and I'm crying on and off constantly x x
Good luck 💐

LillianFullStop · 10/02/2019 18:09

@sugarplum I hope second biopsy all clear for you too. Perhaps they are extra cautious for you.

@Borntobeamum - do you have an appointment already or are you waiting on a callback?

Lillian I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow morning and an urgent Thoracic CT scan Tuesday morning. I have been told I will then be discussed at a meeting on Friday with my consultant and radiographers.
I'm a gibbering wreck at the moment x

Fiddie · 10/02/2019 18:21

The wait is horrible.

I hope you all get good news.

Borntobeamum · 19/02/2019 07:59

Update - I have colon cancer.
Devastated. X

Doublethecuddles · 19/02/2019 13:15

I’m sorry to hear that Borntobemum.

I am waiting for results of a biopsy from my thyriod. Just another 12 days to wait!

Borntobeamum · 19/02/2019 15:32

The waiting is the worst! When my consultant told me It was cancer it was almost a relief as now I have a plan to work to x x

Have my third annual mammo after simple mastectomy in 2016 next week. I’ve been recalled every time since and then cleared on second sets. Waiting doesn’t get any easier, but it is the worst bit. In the worst case, once you know, you rapidly have a plan put in place and whatever the criticisms of NHS (and I’ve certainly had them on a separate issue), cancer care surrounds you and really helps you through. Mine was fantastic.
Really sorry Borntobeamum Flowers have you spoken to any of the charity helplines yet? I only have experience of the Breast Cancer Care line but there will be an equivalent for your condition. Helped no end when I couldn’t talk to my hospital team, really clued up and professional. Their forums really help too. I didn’t want to join in but reading others stories helped. Lots of love x

Borntobeamum · 19/02/2019 19:00

JRM I hope next week goes well.
I've been given a MacMillan Book with phone numbers in, but don't feel ready to talk yet 😢
I, too have joined forums and pages on Facebook and have had loads of support from them.
It's tough but we will get there x x x

JRMisOdious · 19/02/2019 20:13

MacMillan are excellent, I know, and there will be a section on their general website for your condition. Specialist charities can offer more really targeted advice and information and their forums will have a very wide range of invaluable practical advice and personal knowledge of procedures, tests etc. Know exactly what you mean, it will take a while and you may never want to join in, I didn’t, but it was a source of comfort and help.
Thinking of you both and sending all the very best. xx

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2019 18:29

Sorry to hear @borntobe Flowers - at least there is now a plan for you and action can be taken.

Jury still out with me - first biopsies didn’t show cancer so they had repeat ones taken to be sure. Getting results next week.

On top of that there is a chance I may be PG so they can’t do an MRI until they’re sure I’m not pregnant
