I should be going back to work tomorrow but am going to ring in sick and try and speak to the doctor, but does anyone have any advice? I had the botox a fortnight ago and spent the next five days constipated, then muddled through a couple of days, then saw the GP for advice on medication (Movicol and pain killers) as I was in so much pain.
I wanted to spend the second week getting into a routine, getting the Movicol amount and timings right so I knew when to expect a bowel movement and keeping on top of the pain, but never managed it due to some bad nights slowing me down in the mornings and some terrible episodes of pain. I just can't get the Movicol right so will go back to my pre-botox amount which I could cope with (but was probably a bit low).
I have had two incidences of faecal incontinence (urge incontinence) - I think I could have prevented them by reacting quicker, but I'm now scared to leave the house in case it happens again when I'm not close to a loo. I'm constantly aware of what's happening with my stomach/bowels and I'm going to the loo about every 30 minutes, whenever I feel anything (about 2 out of 10+ trips will be necessary, and to be honest I can tell when it definitely is likely to be a bowel movement but I don't want to risk it at other times. I can't get to sleep for worrying about having an accident at night.
To make things worse, I seemed to develop a stomach upset yesterday, still here but getting better today, so I'm just in a mess.
If anyone has any advice I would be grateful - could I get signed off for a few more days if I tell the GP about the incontinence? I want to get back to work but I can't face the thought of it at the moment and I just want to be back in a routine/knowing what to expect from day to day. I really wish I'd never had the botox as I am in even more pain now and I'm terrified about the incontinence happening at work or when I'm out.
Thanks for reading.
