I have been feeling very low with waves of anxiety recently due to circumstances. I plan to go to my doctor, but I would like to hear of anyone who has found a medication helpful for this? I am worried about side effects, particularly weight gain.

I've taken Wilko's own stress relief tabs and find they help a little

Have had a massive anxiety disorder for years. Have tried everything natural /over the counter in existence. Nothing made the slightest bit of difference.

Started on Sertraline a couple of months ago and it has made a real, solid, noticeable difference.

I wish I'd tried it years ago.

Ditto Sertraline

For specific anxiety provoking situations, I find Rescue Remedy does work for me. Eg, making a presentation. But that is building on CBT which sorted my thinking habits out. Horrible place to be. Hope you find something that works for you very soon OP.

Thanks, re. sertraline rec. No weight issues with it?

I also had good luck with sertraline when I had anxiety and depression. I also found that beta blockers, such as propanolol were helpful with the physical symptoms - racing heart/sweating etc.

They come in a slow release form, or you can take a short release form just before you go into a stressful situation. No weight gain on either.

Sertraline too

Propranolol for anxiety
Magnesium and melatonin also helps sleep and anxiety as well, but I buy low dose melatonin over the counter in France.

I couldn’t take sertraline, turns out I can’t tolerate SSRI’s :( however I started a small amount of amitryptoline and it went away within a week. I’ve been on it ever since. I don’t know how it works as it shouldn’t at 10mg but it does for me

Also headspace - The app. Absolutely amazing
