dd1 has had a rash since friday and i suspect it may be this by the description but i cannot find any clear pictures of the rash.

If it looks like prickly heat check out rubella as well. Ds1's rubella rash looked exactly like prickly heat.

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 20:08

really?

ok sweetheart. can you get him in at the docs tomorrow if he still poorly?

gess · 01/07/2007 20:28

here's rubella. DS1's wasn't that widespread. (It was definitely rubella). He wasn't really ill with it either.

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 20:32

Thanks both
Gess-I don't think it is Rubella as the spots are raised.

Fransmom-Yes will probably get dp to take her while i'm at work tomorrow afternoon as i'm at hospital appointment in the morning.

Do you think that the school will let her go with a rash like this?
I sent her on friday but it wasn't as bad then.

This any good?

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 21:06

Thanks SaintGeorge

i don't think it looks like that!

gess · 01/07/2007 21:12

allergy?

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 21:13

I can't think of anything different that she has had or been in contact with though!

outside in the garden???

DS1's rubella spots were slightly raised in some places.

gess · 01/07/2007 21:19

see here. Ds1's was just like this, but not as covered. It looked like prickly heat to me- I just happened to know he'd been in contact with rubella and the incubation period was exactly right.

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 21:23

The rash is mainly on face, shoulders and collarbone area ,arms and some on her lower back on the side.
The spots are raised and itchy.
Not chickenpox.
Am very careful with products etc on her skin as she has mild excema.

I'd whisk her up to the docs tomorrow tbh if it hasn;t improved. Does sound a bit allergic like. Dose of piriton to see what happens???

Beauregard · 01/07/2007 22:18

Thanks will do Gess

www.dermatlas.com is pretty good for images of any skin complaint.

Beauregard · 02/07/2007 19:29

Thanks Mamapyjama

Well dp took dd to the GP this afternoon (after a fight to get her an appointment)

The Gp said it was either an allergy or a different type of excema. She said that if it doesn't clear up or get's worse to take dd back. She prescribed antihistamine and oilatum and hydrocortizone cream.
I won't be getting the oilatum though as the dd's skin reacts badly to it and dp forgot

If the spots begin to look as if they're in little pits (a bit like chickepox, blistered but in small pits) then go back immediately and ask about eczema herpeticum. DS1 had this at 11 months- initially mistaken for chickenpox (having been dxed first as infected eczema) - it can be very nasty. He had an emergency dermatology appointment (seen the next day- on the NHS!) and recieved all sorts of wonderful treatments.....

Beauregard · 02/07/2007 20:09

Oh thanks Gess,will do!
