micro-discectomy. Anyone know anything about this procedure?

I had a discectomy 3 1/2 years ago - ie I was suffering from a slipped disc and had the bulging part of the disc shaved off. I know it doesn't work fully for everyone, but it worked brilliantly for me and I have had no problems since - plus gone through two pregnancies without difficulties.

The recovery period is really important though, and obviously tricky if you've got kids/work etc. If you can get any help, do take it! I seem to remember I was flat out for about 10 days, not allowed to lift things, bend over too much etc. The full recovery period was 6 months, having to take things pretty easy.
