Chicken pox as an adult

I’ve got chicken pox as an adult. I’m 30! Feel it’s very unfair as also had them as a kid. Doctor says after 5 days they should be contagious any more.

I don’t have any new spots but the ones I have are ‘weeping’ sorry I know that’s grim but is that normal?? Is it a good sign? I’ve also got a stinking cold with it too 😫

I’m on my own DH is working away for next two months. Really hoping it clears up before Xmas other wise it could be really lonely!

Any top tips for dealing with it?

I had it as an adult and thought it was the end - I have never been so unwell in my life.
The spots had all scanned over in 7 days but it took about 6 weeks for the fatigue to go.

Are you struggling with the itching? Calamine lotion helped me, as did sleeping with gloves on because I was trying to scratch all night

I had it at 27, was grim. I had two weeks off work ( and my street was evacuated and I had to go and sit in the corner of the library at 9pm, with everyone keeping their kids away from me)

Take antihistamine for the itch and regular paracetamol.

Poxyclin mousse helps soothe.

Have lots of showers, don’t wear too many clothes.
